If you don't have some way to measure body-fat %, I'd recommend you get one. You can get some calipers pretty cheap on Amazon. We have a scale that measures it using science or something. You could use SAD as a proxy as well (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagittal_A ... l_Diameter).
Basically you want to track your body composition, not just your weight, especially if you plan to ramp up the exercise. Because muscle is denser than fat, you could lose fat and gain muscle, and never get to your weight goal.

Whatever that system Thib was talking up a while back.
Instead of starving myself like I did in the past, I am going to eat lots of meat, and no sugar/bread/potatoes/pasta. We'll see how it goes.

Paleo.
Good luck. I couldn't do it. The transition off of carbs just killed me. And Thib's right, a body fat scale is a good idea.
we have a Tanita. Old enough it's not sold any more, but kinda looks like this one.`

Doesn't seem TOO difficult for a short term, like the month of February, and I am certainly going to have a couple cheating days in the form of an office party w/open bar, and my wife's birthday and of course she wants an italian restaurant. Those are both this week, but I should be able to put off pizza and hamburger buns and french fries for a few weeks.
I just feel sort of.... bloated.... eating all that meat. Maybe the natural scaling back I will do because I am sick of meat will be what loses me the weight, heh.

Some people believe that is a large component of it. And in fact, before I started doing this, it was pretty common for me to eat myself sick on pizza, or cookies, or whatever. That doesn't happen anymore (also, I don't have heartburn, either), and it could very well be that at some point, your body just doesn't want anymore protein or fat.
I will say that I've never had a "bloated" feeling from eating meat. Carbs, yes, meat no.

Just Day 1 transition bloat. I don't usually eat that heavy for lunch, but my brain is wired to panic if I don't have like 2 pounds of food on my plate, so that was a lot of meat. There is some mental adjusting to do.

The first week is the worst. If you can make it past that... it gets a LOT easier.

Know what's weird? The day before he got married, he would play League of Legends with us. We haven't seen in-game since.
Coincidence, I am sure.

223.6 today, which surprised me. 3 pound drop from yesterday, even though I was eating all day.
Woke up with the carb crash headache... going to be a fun day.

A lot of your weight loss is probably going to be water early on. Drink up.

Yeah, especially as you deplete your glycogen(?) stores in the muscles. For every g of carbs stored in your muscles, 2g of water (or something like that) are stored with them. So it's pretty easy to lose 5-10 pounds just by dropping carbs in the beginning. Your body is just losing its water/carb stores at this point.

Peleo diets food list.
Hey look, it says 12 ounces of beer is ok. I assume 12 ounces a day.
Saw on another list that you should limit eggs to 4 a week. Wha? I've had 8 in 2 days.

Another 2 points lost, and was eating like a caveman all day. Also had a beer last night which the list said I could do, but I was dubious.....
But I had one anyway.
5 pounds lost total after 2.
