I broil mine. I get a similar texture to grilled, but in a more controlled environment.
Plus I don't have to mess with the grill.

Sheeeit, "messing" with the grill means there's less mess in the kitchen.

I nuke mine in the microwave. If I'm going to go through the trouble of another method of cooking, it's going to be on something more worthwhile than a damned hotdog.

So I cook mine 1 of 3 ways:
Grilled - preferred, but only do this if I'm also cooking something else (hamburgers, grilling out, etc)
Microwave - lazy/easy.
Pan fry - Cut em down the middle, then fry on each side. Most of the benefits of grilling with less effort.

The pan fry is nice because you can also drop in some butter, then toast your buns too.

You know, I forgot about nuking them. Used to do that all the time. Put the raw dog in a bun, wrap it in a paper towel, and in a minute 20 you have a hot dog with a hot steamed bun.

I haven't done that in years.

Wait, you microwaved the bun, too?

That seems odd. Bread doesn't nuke well.

Yep. Put the dog in the bun, wrap it all in a paper towel, and the steam from the dog steams the bun. 20 seconds too long and your bread gets hard so you've got to know your machine's sweet spot.

I forgot about pan frying them!
I need to do that again.

As for the microwave, that tends to leave them shriveled.

I pretty much only get Hebrew National, but maybe other brands do better?

We typically do ball park, beef hot dogs, full fat. they do pretty well in the microwave.

Well, except for the chorizo.

Did you know you can buy it in American stores where it's not made of plastic and rat kidneys? Actually a tasty garlic sausage.

Trust me, living where I do I've had access to supposedly "good" chorizo.

It's a lie. Blah.

I don't trust you, since I made tasty chorizo-parmesan meatballs last night and had meatball subs.
