I think my opinion is that it wasn't this woman's job to demystify tits for a couple hundred cub scouts at camp, in the same way it isn't her job to go around and tell these kids that Santa doesn't exist.
Not to be a dick, but just to be a dick:
1) She's not the one that mystified them in the first place.
2) I've told both my brothers, "Don't ever let your kids ask me about Santa or the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy or anything like that. Homey don't play that."

I'm sure it's possible to avoid building up the mystique if mom has her tits out around the house like it ain't no thing, but once socializing starts and the child doesn't see anyone else doing it, he'll pick up the bullshit magical thinking real quick. This is one of the things that does take a village.

I have a feeling that if you guys were in charge of the local cub scout pack, there wouldn't be anyone in the local cub scout pack.

Yeah ... "cub scout" is kind of weak. I think I'd go with "Tiger Rangers" or "Lion Asskickers."

I laughed.
And Malcolm, if your brothers' kids ask you about Santa, you play along. You'd have to be the world's biggest piece of shit to hurt a child like that and go against your brothers' wishes.
White lies are a part of life like telling your wife she doesn't look fat as she waddles around 9 months pregnant.

They were warned for a reason. Lying to a child's bad, unless it's about imaginary beings, then it's good ... unless it ends up giving them nightmares, then I guess that's bad. See, I forget how all the fucked up social rules work. It's simply easier not to lie to them and credit the proper people.

It prevents arguments with the child by divesting the gift-giving decision to a remote entity who can only be placated with the correct conduct. Couldn't be simpler.

Man you make parenting sound easy. You must have raised a lot of kids to have that kind of wisdom!

Indeed. Christ forbid the kids know the gifts came from the hard work and financial savvy of their parents instead of some fictitious, old fat guy with magical reindeer and elves that pulls a B&E on your house annually through the chimney and spends the rest of his time living in his workshop in a frozen wasteland.

But Malcolm, the older they are before they learn the truth about Santa and the Easter Bunney et al the more likely they are to have the faculties to supply the same leap of logic to religion.

"I was over in Australia during easter, which was intersting. Interesting to note they celebrate Easter the same way we do; commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus by telling our children a giant bunny rabbit left chocolate eggs in the night.
Now, I wonder why we're fucked up as a race, anybody? Anybody got any clues out there?
Where do you get this shit from you know? Why those two things you know? Why not ‘Goldfish left Lincoln Logs in your sock drawer’ you know? As long as we’re making shit up, go hog wild you know. At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on it's back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous conotation to it.
'Mummy, I woke today and there was a Lincoln Log in me sock drawer!'.
'That's the story of Jesus'.
Who comes up with this shit?! I’ve read the Bible. I can’t find the words ‘bunny’ or ‘chocolate’ anywhere in that fucking book".

You daring me to have a kid, bring the Antichrist into the world, and cause the Apocalypse? Damien Thorn wouldn't have shit on him.

For the first time ever, I now truly believe it is a good thing that some people aren't having kids.

The ability to recognize and call out bullshit can never be taught too early.
Let's check this Xmas/Santa thing. It's not enough to have your family together, everyone expressing they give a fuck with time and gifts. They have to be delivered by a red-suited git with varying assistants depending on the country you're in.
Just say, "Here you go kid, we pooled cash for a year to get all this because we care.". You want mystery and wonder? Explain how the solar system works. Explain what your circulatory system does. Isn't there enough wonder fucking around you already? You need a tubby teamster tossing trinkets under a tinseled tree?
It amazes me how much people will bitch consumerism has displaced the family during the holidays. The family gives away credit to mythical beings.
You want a mass delusion to believe in with everyone else? Try world peace.

I'm not even going to try to argue that it is fun for kids to believe in magic for a while while they are young.

You have magic to believe in when you're old, too. Karma, homoepathic medicine, reincarnation, dark matter/energy, that your vote matters, psychic mediums, ghosts, ancient aliens, ad nauseum.
