Starro first debuted in 1960. It was probably edgy back then. Now it'd be named McKenzie or something.
To be fair to DC, both DC and Marvel have long lists of absolutely terrible and/or cheesy names. For fuck's sake both have several characters named Captain Marvel or some variant of it.

And I thought he "Shazam" movie was really bad and cheesy, too. Like something you'd see made to air on Nickeloden. Like the Shakboy and Lavagirl sequel had money left over, so they made Shazam over a long weekend.

DC/WB have made it very clear that there is no DCU consistency anymore. They are taking the characters, giving them to someone, and letting them do whatever they want. If it doesn't fit another DCU movie, who cares.
