I already knew yours. Cake's too.
I don't know Stranger's, and anyone else who might be joining us.
I'm Leisher.

Just played a game in a Prymidion, or something like that. It had a TON of guns on it. The captain was a gunner, instead of a captain, which I thought was stupid. But, there are two guns near the captain's chair. So, he would line the ship up, then man the guns! I would take the other one and we had two guns lighting the ship up. Lots of red dots. Then as we passed, one of us would grab the side gun and continue the damage. The captain would line up for ramming. When we hit, it would just bounce the enemy ship right back in front our guns and we'd continue firing. SOOOO much damage. That game lasted about 5 minutes with a score of 5 - 0. Not sure what the other ship was. But the blue team never had a chance. I don't think this ship is a OP win button. The guy flying the ship really knew what he was doing, and our team mate was always on screen putting in some damage as well. At one point, both enemies popped within about 2 seconds of each other. They were both grouped up. Like bumping into one another. And our team was just hammering them with rounds.
So, again. This ship isn't a win button. The other team obviously didn't know what they were doing, and our team was dead on with everything. But, it was a fun ship to be on.

Did some quick searching on TS as well for if/when we get 8 people and 2 ships running.
Created two new channels. Ship 1 and Ship 2. You can configure settings on your client to be able to talk to two different channels at once. That way, each ship will have their own channels, but captains can talk to each other in both channels. That way, engineer requests aren't getting spammed to both ships, etc. And the captains can coordinate targets and flight paths. If/when it comes to that, I'll go into more detail. But for now, we know it can be done.

As you know, I don't think I can get into just swinging a wrench and banging on broken machinery. I mean, it sounds really fun, but to me it isn't.
I want to like the game, but that is just so fucking boring.

So be the gunner or the captain.

Well it's not fair for someone else to be stuck in that boring ass job. The need for someone to be stuck in that boring role is really a problem with that game, in my opinion.
Maybe if we rotate.
I hate to leave you guys high and dry with a short team, but.

Being the engineer for you guys was WAY better than doing it for strangers. If you just see it as banging a hammer on metal, then ya, I would see that as boring as well. I saw it as fighting to keep my team alive. Plus, with Strangers new flying abilities, I dished out quite a bit of damage with the guns as well.

It was just going from spot to spot banging on things with a wrench, no matter what the purpose was. You'd fix one thing just to have it damaged again 4 seconds later. It was maddening to me. Like when a postal worker goes insane because THE MAIL NEVER STOPS.
The time I jumped on a gun for a change of pace I wasn't there 2 seconds when you were saying DO YOUR FUCKING JOB.

I think rotation is a huge part of it. You will note that under your character, you can level up in any path.
That doesn't mean we won't want to be specialized, specifically at Captain.
As Cake said, I think the Captain is the most important role.
Also, if you want to be gunner, I have no problem being an engineer. The only difference between the gunner and engineer is spotting and ammo.
Personally, I think we might want to try having the gunner cover the main and left gun, while one engineer covers the flamer, hull, and engines. That engineer can repair when needed or be there to immediately start flaming the enemy ship after the gunner just hit it with the front guns. The other engineer can float between the balloon, whatever that rear thing is, and the hull when needed.
