Season 4 remains excellent, though it has several 4-part arcs instead of a season long arc.
Sort of like Doctor Who back in the day.

Finished the series.
There was some sad-ass shit in the last couple episodes.
This show definitely went before its time.
I think my fave character of the series may be Doctor Phlox.

Enterprise voted Trek series which most deserved another season.

Enterprise voted Trek series which most deserved another season.
Kind of process of elimination, and actually wrong, I think.
Fuck DS9, fuck Voyager. TNG was on long enough, so it's out, too. I'd say the original series deserved it more.

TOS Season 3 was a massive reduction in quality, season 4 would probably have been worse.
DS9 & Enterprise - I am learning that the people who hate DS9 and ENT the most are the people who didn't watch them. DS9 got to wrap up their plotlines, ENT did not.
Voyager - Fuck Voyager.

I agree, but for different reasons.
If TOS had been given additional years, perhaps it loses the interest of its cult-like followers, and TNG never sees the light of day.
TNG did go for 7 years, but honestly, they could have told a lot more stories. The reason why the show was ended is because some executive at Paramount thought the TV show would hurt box office receipts when TNG's cast started hitting the big screen. Talk about not knowing your audience...
DS9 might have wrapped up their stories, but it was also very polarizing. The cast simply wasn't interesting, which will happen when you put over a bit player and one of the most boring characters from TNG. I'm amazed they didn't bring Diana Troy along as well. Also, the new captain wasn't portrayed as being very likeable, and his real life persona was worse. So fuck DS9.
I've only seen a few episodes of Voyager, and what I saw wasn't awesome nor was it horrific. I do know it gets a lot of hatred, so fuck it.
That leaves Enterprise, and since it apparently had unresolved plot lines, I agree that it should have received the extra season.

I DID watch a bunch of Voyager, and the 3 big problems I and a lot of other people have with the show are:
1. No continuity. They are supposed to be lost and alone on the far side of the galaxy, with no federation spacedocks to resupply them or fix their hurts. In spite of this, their ship never shows any accumulation of damage or any other inconvenience... up to, and including, the only 2 shuttle craft they carry have been completely destroyed about 20 times. And hey, they have a single hologram doctor, and when there are technical problems on the ship the doctor isn't available and peeps die. They are at sea for 7 years... they never decided to assign an actual human to apprentice to the doctor? All kinds of dumb shit like that. Poor writing.
2. Every problem is solved by technobabble. At least with Kirk/Picard/Riker, you could tell when he made some genius tactical decision.... in Voyager every problem was solved by reversing the polarity of the deflector and shooting the magic beam at whatever. Poor writing.
3. The cast, especially Captain Janeway, was wildly inconsistent in the decisions she made. One episode it was fine to risk the entire crew in order to save one innocent alien life, in the next episode it was fine to destroy an entire alien ship because they might be slowed down getting home by a few hours if they stopped to deal with it. Poor writing.
It is my understanding that the writer who wanted to fix a lot of these problems, Ron Moore, got fed up and left when he was constantly overruled. He left to go make Battlestar Galactica, which is what Voyager should have been... if slightly less dark. Voyager had potential, but it was completely flushed down the shitter.

I just finished rewatching all of TOS, and yeah, third season was pretty bad. The whole series was worse than I remember it.
Still better than Voyager.

Do they have one without Janeway? Although, she is on the edge, so you could just use some scissors and cut around.
