Maybe, but at least Godzilla didn't piss on Matthew Broderick & was not pissed upon by a yip dog.

Eh... wasn't a great movie, but as long as it was I never got bored. Excellent visuals. Very so-so. If you want to see the special effects on the big screen, go see it. Otherwise wait for video release.

Yeah, but at least Transformers has Transformers in it.

Godzilla never even showed up in the bullshit Matthew Broderick Godzilla.

Actually, I rather liked it. I agree with every single point you've made, Malcolm, and it's not as far from cannon as Starship Troopers was but it's in the same area code. However, if you ignore everything else that's come before it this movie does hang together pretty well on it's own. It definately could have been much better. It should have been much better. But if you go into it forgetting everything you know about the franchise, it's a decent flick overall.

I give it 5 out of 10. It would have been 6, but the lubricant jokes and bad use of "more than meets the eye" cost a half-point each.

I didn't hate (most of) it, but I left sort of dissapointed. They could have done so much better.

And the quick-camera edits during combat. You could never tell what was going on, it just looked like big piles of machinery filling the screen for 30 second chunks of time. Whoops, my bad.

Here's some actual deleted scenes from the movie.

"How'd you like me to fill your mouth with liquid nitrogen, asshole?"
"I don't even have a mouth you stupid shit."

For some reason, the only person that has as much hatred of this film is the associate I saw it w\. Everyone else seems to range from kinda lukewarm to kick-ass.

I still seriously don't see what was worth watching in this flick besides a few seconds of CG fighting.

Odd, they seem to fit in well w\ the general shittiness of the shots they left in.

It was NOT kick-ass, unless you are a 13 year old male.

I give it a C+.

It had just enough violence to get an average grade.

A LOT ofpeeps got slaughtered in this movie, even though there wasn't a drop of blood. I have moderately warm hopes for an unrated director's cut where they put the color red back in the movie.

So.... I never watched this show as a kid, I think I was too old. My neighbors had Transformers, and I think I had a few as well.

I'm guessing Malcolm watched the show? Or was there some other source for the Transformers mythology?

Well, there's the American TV series everyone's familiar w\ & there's the comic books. Then all these other crap TV series started cropping up some years back.

If you watch it now, you'll see that it doesn't age well.

So I read the Wired article on Transformers last night. Apparently Bumblebee became a Camaro? Uh... the character's name isn't BitchinRide. It's Bumblebee. It's a VW Bug.

I guess I remember at least that much about the original ones.

Originally, yeah, but it works as a camero. I liked him as the older model camero, though, more than the newer slicker version.

EDIT: Although the real reason is product placement, of course. Autobots = GMC, you see.

Volkswagon did not want their product portrayed as being violent, because they are stupid hippies.
