Can't believe I'm saying this, but he should have kept the long hair.

He definitely needed to cut his hair. But he should have had someone that knew what they were doing cut it. Or, he needed to have someone with some sense tell them how to have it cut. Leaving his hair style up to him is the problem.

There is logic to what you're saying. He doesn't seem to be a super hip fellow.
