Guess the remake - coming in 2010

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Here are some hints, let me know when you figured it out:

1. The original was an 80s movie.

2. It was very popular.

3. It stared Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.

Additional hints will be hidden:
4. It launched a bunch of careers.

5. A big name star today (movies and TV) is in the film, but doesn't get top billing. He has numerous hit films, none recent, but he is currently on the #1 rated comedy on TV.

6. A medium name star from the 70s/80s (movies) is in the film, but doesn't get top billing. He was simply awesome as the villain in Extreme Prejudice and held Johnny Ringo's leash in Tombstone.

7. Other cast members include: C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, Harry Dean Stanton, Darren Dalton, etc.

8. There are some Cubans in it.

9. Maybe a Russian or two.

10. If you don't know it by now, you don't know it.

I forgot the answer. Link to the remake.

How will it have an anti-American spin is what I wonder.

1, 2, and 3 had me thinking Dirty Dancing.

Yeah, that's the other flick. The first three clues didn't uniquely identify it. Although, there's been all sorts of shit spun off from Dirty Dancing.

Dirty Dancing was indeed the intention of #1, 2, and 3.

It will be interesting to see how they remake Red Dawn and as Gordo says, how will they make it anti-American?

No, the opening narration will be changed to something like:
"Due to years of bad foreign policy and imperialist warfare, the rest of the world decides to invade the U.S. to help overthrown the evil Republicans.

Small pockets of liberals who didn't vote Bush are spared and immediately made citizens of France.

However, several rednecks begin a brutal terrorist war against the freedom fighters from around the globe. This is the story of how even at the end with no hope in sight, some asshole Americans just don't know when to get on their knees."

Blue states INVADE red states.

Calling it now.

No... vice versa. The rednecks must be the evil aggressors.
