Know the difference between Trump and Obama? Obama let everyone else think of him as a god.
I couldn't agree more.

I find it funny that folks are bashing Trump for his lack of experience when Obama is our current president. Of course, the MSM bashed Palin's record when she was the VP against Obama, which was hilarious because they were saying she didn't have enough experience to be vice president despite being governor of Alaska, yet Obama had only been a community organizer, yet was somehow qualified to be president?

This isn't in defense of Trump, just an attack on one specific criticism of him.

I used to think the left was just silly and misguided, but that was the exact argument that made me understand they were actually deceitful and evil.

Sarah Palin wasn't qualified to be vice-president because she's a fucking moron. I don't particularly like President Obama, but if I'm going to accuse him of anything, it's being too cunning.

Yeah, you know that because he was so well vetted by the media when he was running.

I never said Palin wasn't an idiot.

My point was she was FAR more qualified to be president than Obama. Plus, she was only going to be a vice president, yet somehow the completely unbiased MSM attacked her "inexperience" for that job, yet didn't say shit about Obama's glaringly obvious lack of credentials.

Palin was and still is a bumbling dumb-ass. All the ineptness of Curly Howard without any of the appeal. I'm not concerned with anyone's "official experience" being directly applicable being prez. Unless there's a term under your belt already, anything on your CV means precisely dick. My problems with Donnie the Walking Dumpster Fire have nothing to do with that. I like neither B. Rock nor Palin. I wouldn't put Sarah in charge of so much as a PTA meeting. I'd probably let Obama manage a restaurant.

I was assured that Obama was almost overqualified to be president because of his "community organizer" experience, which when I asked, no one could define.

Being governor of a state was not even worth considering as executive experience.

I knew it from the way he rode the local unions to power and then turned his back on them as soon as it suited him, and from the way he handled Senator McCain's health exams and the birther shit like one would a petulant child. If someone didn't know because he waits on the news to tell him what to think day-to-day, well, oops on him. Solve the problem of stupid people in the majority and you solve the biased media issue -- I'll wait.

Nobody can define it because it's not a real job.

Like how Obama kept using the phrase "I found out from the news like you" for about a dozen different negative things about his administration?

No, it's not. Certainly not after I saw how she apparently governed and thought.

I'm convinced most people are too stupid to handle the basic freedoms the Bill of Rights gives them.

Agreed, Malcolm, but unfortunately government officials are also people and also stupid and absolutely no better. The freedoms of the Bill of Rights aren't there to let people make wise decisions, they're there to protect us from the stupid people with government backing their idiotic decisions.

This. Let people screw up their own lives. Don't let them screw up mine (via government)

I'm trying to wrap my head around this. You think that piece of paper is there to protect you from the stupidity in the government? Who's going to protect you? The non-stupid gov't? Let me know when you find one.

It was easier when we had checks and balances. The 17th Amendment was a HUGE step in the direction of destroying the checks and balances.

Ultimately that's what the second amendment is for. The founding fathers would have considered the states to be responsible for protecting their own citizens from the feds, and then it would be up to individuals to protect themselves from the state governments.

These days - until revolution starts to break out again - all it really helps with is giving you something to point at in court that some few judges still consider valid.

If I recall my history properly, you can mainly thank William Jennings Bryan for that. Populism has the benefit that even when its ideas are fucking insane, the majority will like them.
