The Rock stars as a Gulf War vet who comes home to find his town has been corrupted by a casino, adult book store, and drug trade that are run by a old high school friend of his.
Johnny Knoxville plays The Rock's best friend turned deputy.
There's nothing spectacular about this film and there's nothing too horrible either.
In terms of acting, The Rock is good in his role and everyone else pulls their weight.
The storyline is mediocre, but isn't too mediocre. The action, while over the top at times, is not too over the top.
The only real negatives on the film is that its so short and that certain "realistic" things are worked around to help the story and action.
This movie is truly a middle of the road film. Nobody needs to run out and see it, yet you won't feel violated if you do.
A decent effort, but the Rock should continue to make action films with more of a slant towards humor like The Rundown. I'm not sure he's ready for dramatic roles yet.
5 out of 10.
