I dont know who Patrick O'brien Parks is on facebook, but when i saw his wall post in my feed i wanted to tell him that there were at least 4 things about it that suggested he was an idiot.

I guess it was on my wall because you commented in it.

And you know, when there are 4 pieces of evidence to suport a "theory..."

He's somebody that I used to know. I mean, he worked here for a while a few years ago. He's a pretty decent sort, but is a liberal except he also likes guns.

I'm actually kind of surprised how many liberals are "friends" with me on Facebook. Most of them don't post stupid stuff most of the time, fortunately. There is one guy, though, whose hobby is making ultra-liberal song parodies.

Just to add to the google indexing, Patrick O'brien Parks from North Carolina is an idiot.

Now that I am home I will cut-n-paste the post from facebook, so the rest of you can have context:
Please spare us all the "theory" that a CCW holder would have stopped the Batman shooting. Life isn't a John Wayne movie....

People Thib knows in that thread go on to say how there was tear gas and no one can function in tear gas (false), how he had "head to toe" body armor and bullets could not have stopped him (false), and some stupid thing about how another shooter would just have been adding bullets to the mess and "anyone who would have tried to take a shot at a face-sized target should turn in their CCW." That's just stupid. In a theater-sized space I could not have missed a face-sized target. I am a very good shot. I would be aiming for his right eye and at worst hit his nose.

My mind was wandering today.... someone needs to make a parody of the "assault rifle" paradigm by rewriting the Boston Massacre in those new terms, referring to the British "Assault Muskets."

Yeah, I don't know why people are so sure that nobody could have stopped this guy with a concealed carry piece. At any rate, is there ANY sane person who thinks "thank God nobody else in the theater was armed?" Would the outcome have been WORSE?

I saw someone make exactly that argument, claiming that if there were as many as ten people concealed carry in the theater then it would have been a worse bloodbath as everyone started shooting wildly.

They were roundly castigated as being an idiot.

That's part of the CCW training: you cover your eyes and point the pistol in a random direction, and shoot til it's empty.

And it isn't like the scared, fleeing crowd is trying to huddle around the shooter, crowding the target.
