I haven't been following the GOP circus very closely, but isn't it true that Ron Paul has consistently been in the top 2 or 3 in all these endless straw polls? But we never hear about him: it's always Romney plus the daily flavor of Perry, Cain, Gingrich , anybody but Paul.

But Perry, Cain, and Gingrich keep shooting themselves in the foot. How much longer can the media ignore Ron Paul? And why does the Republican party keep allowing the media to pick its candidate?

Paul is ignored as much as Sarah Palin is attacked. I don't think either is viable.

Why isn't he viable? You don't think he can win the nomination, or you don't think that he could beat Obama?

I don't think he is viable because the media will never allow him to win. I stopped thinking the typical American was smarter than the media when the least-vetted candidate in history, Obama, won.

I'd love a President Paul. A President Paul could actually reverse the death spiral this country is in...... IF he could get the bought and paid for Congress to work with him (which I don't think he could). But I don't think the media would ever say a single good thing about Republican Candidate Paul, and Americans will allow themselves to be swayed.

Let me put it this way: is there any Republican the media can't defeat? If not, then why not nominate Ron Paul?

I don't know. I was so certain that there was no way in hell that Obama could be elected, I now feel like my gut instincts are completely unreliable.

Whatever; the first "black" guy to run? White people couldn't wait to vote for him to show how not racist they were.

Well, Stewart is right. If the media ignores long-time associations with an openly racist preacher, America wont care. If the media ignores long-time associations with a known domestic terrorist, America wont care. If the media ignores a complete lack of any kind of experience, America wont care.

America doesn't care. I think we've passed the tipping point of people who just care about getting their free candy.

I think the media are a little afraid of Ron Paul. I don't mean there's some big conspiracy, I mean that the individuals that make up the mass media - most of whom skew liberal democrat - are made uncomfortable by Ron because he's a Republican that actually makes some sense and isn't crippled by zealous religious insanity. He might actually be able to win a general election. And they deal with that uneasiness by pretending he's just another crackpot not worth mentioning.

I think there may be something to that.

This is quite interesting. I think the GOP needs to find a way to force Paul into the nomination. The hard core right wingers will still vote for him over Obama, and he's more attractive to independents and people with Obama hangover.

No, you are thinking of the "Paul" from this forum. For both of those examples you gave.

I don't live with Wanda. She has a strict "no sleeping over" policy, so I'm deprived of my post-coitus cuddle time.
I guess that's fine though. She delivers a harder pounding than I got in jail anyway, so I could use the healing time.
