This weekend, we went to a local park that contains a (purportedly still functional) gristmill. Inside the visitors' center was this nice exhibit about it. It also explained how a gristmill fits nicely into 21st century values: a renewable, non-polluting energy source processing locally grown food.

Last night on NPR they were doing pledge drives, so they were offering gifts when you pledge. One of the gifts was a basket, handcrafted in Ghana by peasant women, or some such. "It's great for shopping at your farmers' market!"
