And usually the end of that sentence is a variation of "but I need him to pay my bills."
I see that in reddit over and over. They call it "financial abuse," on the mans part but it always comes down to she loves his money more than she hates him. She can't leave him because she'll have to downgrade her lifestyle so she'll pretend to like him one more day. Which is all good and honorable, of course.
Anyway, it occurs to me that most people in the world look at the USA in the exact same way.
