From the Wright Brothers' flight at Kitty Hawk (1903) to Yuri Gagarin the First Man in Space (1961) was a bit less than 58 years.

Gagarin's flight was a bit over 59 years ago.

Was there ever any Age like the 20th Century? True, the bad was INCREDIBLY bad: the slaughter of two world wars and the threat of nuclear annihilation. But to go from a steam-powered world to landing on the moon in a human lifespan...who would have believed it possible?

I totally saw it coming.

I'm excited about the things Musk is doing. He gets a lot of flack for some reason, but he seems to be catching up to and surpassing the USA's entire space program progress in a single decade. It's exciting to watch his rockets land, and he's cranking out new missions every year that takes NASA decades to decide upon. We haven't seen any cool space shit since at least the space shuttle ago.

As of today, if we're on Mars within 20 years, it's all because of a single man's vision and fortune.
