Credit Cards

Can't find mine, not in the usual spots, and I did enough travelling around since I last knew I had it in my hand that if I dropped it out in public, that fucker's gone.... so I initiated a replacement over citi.com.

There were no unauthorized charges, which makes me cringe thinking it might just be somewhere in the house....

But it took me maybe 3 clicks to cancel the old and have a new one shipped, and they gave me the new credentials right then on the webpage, so I didn't have to wait to update recurring-charge accounts.

WHich I just did.... 14 damned accounts. Jesus. That feels like a lot.

Yeah, it's so frequent these days they make it easy.

I changed banks last year, and it was terrible. At least 20 of those connections or autopays. And of course I forgot one or two.

My wife had one go bad a few weeks ago. Bank immediately sent out a new one. We're still waiting for it.

The mail is fucked up around here because of the C-19 situation in Detroit.

I haven't noticed any particular issues, but we definitely seem to be getting less mail than pre-virus.

Apparently in Detroit so many postal workers have it that those who don't are refusing to show up to work for fear of catching it.

That sucks.

I truly think they should assign credit card and identity theft as punishable by death.

Gordon will second that.

Seconded. One doesn't accidentally commit credit fraud.

OK, does anyone here use a debit card for anything, or regularly?

Cuz, if you do, it's stupid and you should stop.

Yeah, I see she put it on fb.

For at least 2 decades I've been vocal about the rule of never using a debit card for purchases. So.

Gordo's ex.

She uses her debit card for everything, doesn't even have a credit card, and the inevitable happened. Debit card got cloned/hacked/whatevered, and now she can't do anything.

She did a financial restructuring a while back, so the debit card is what she has.

Personally, I'd be using pre-paid cards before I used my debit card.

Debit cards have more protections than prepaid, but at least your loss is tied up in a pre-paid/you can still get to your other money.
