Was curious... their subscriber base peaked at about 250k, but in 2008 was only 100k. No data that I could see for the last 4 years.

We may have played longer on free shards than we did on the official servers. Looks like I quit in late 2005, personally, but I don't think I was paying for the game in the 21t century. Started in 1996, I remember I had played during the beta.

My heyday was from '98 to '01. I'd come back briefly for a time or two after that, but not for long. Just not the same. Fucking Trammies.

I have fond memories of UO. Not so fond memories of the player run shards. It just wasn't the same.
