NCAA worried about prediction markets.
The NCAA believes companies offering markets on college athletics outside of state regulatory bodies "pose a threat to competition integrity and student-athlete safety," according to a statement by Tim Buckley, a senior vice president for the NCAA.
The biggest threat to competition integrity is the ruling on the TTUN cheating scandal.

Thank you, I was genuinely not expecting that. I thought Texas would come in gangbusters for revenge.

However, to be fair, I do think the new playoff system played a factor. I think both coaches called conservative gameplans. Day blatantly admitted it after the game. He didn't want his young QB making mistakes or losing confidence. I would not be shocked if Sark said the same. This game wasn't as "must win" as previous seasons. All that comes out of it is OSU probably has more room to goof up later and still get in.

That being said...
-Texas' D front is legit.
-OSU's D is legit.
-Muhammed was holding Smith all day. I like that for any rematch. He'll come in with false confidence and could get easily baited into penalties.
-Sean Peyton was probably hard watching Sayin. If Bo Nix doesn't work out, I guarantee Denver goes after him. He's short (I don't buy the 6'1" claim), accurate, doesn't hold the ball, and doesn't try to force it/make mistakes. He's 2025 Drew Brees. He did miss a wide open Smith for a TD early on, but that will come.
-Fuck the people ripping Arch. You get overhyped like that and then go on the road to the defending champ with an NFL DC and see how you do.

5 straight games against top 10 opponents, including a few SEC teams and Day is 5-0. Pretty impressive.

In other news, maybe I'm bitter because they cost me $5, but Clemson's bus entrance is overly complex. I don't like it.

When is the last time two top 5 teams lost in week 1?

And Bama...oof.

Not that I hate trash talk, but I hate ignorant trash talk. I hate it when players give their opponents incentive with dumb statements. You think their team isn't working hard? You think they aren't getting good coaching? And it is absolutely disrespectful. You're implying they aren't working as hard as you or don't care enough or just aren't as good, etc.
Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos isn't backing down from comments he made this summer suggesting Alabama didn't have Nick Saban to "save them" in the Week 1 matchup between the two teams.
So.. how do you feel about his comments now? :P

It's just sports, but ESPN is exhibit A for why the MSM shouldn't have a financial interest in the entities they report upon.

I'd vote for it over whatever Boise St. does with their field.

Bad night for UNC tonight, but maybe they've found their QB?

Gundy and Lanning have a war of words over budget.

College football is just completely broken.

I don't think it's broken. The players should get paid. It's just a bit messy until we hit the new status quo

TTUN was given a slap on the wrist for the most blatant cheating scandal in history and coaches are fighting over budgets. It's pretty broken, imho.

A new status quo will help, like a salary cap, but even then, we're just going to be right back where we were before paying the players was ok. It will just be programs breaking the salary cap without reporting it.

That will continue until the punishment fits the crime.

In other news...

This is pretty blatant targeting, but I guess we don't want the rules to apply to TTUN. They cannot compete on an even playing field.
Also, Skip Bayless continues to be stupid:

Problem with the call though, is we'll see that same hit dozens more times and they won't be called targeting. They need to remove the "judgement call" aspect from it. If that is targeting, fine, but they all need to be.

I'm not arguing that this hit wasn't targeting. I'm arguing that there will be worse hits that won't be called, etc. I'm arguing that this hit would NOT be called targeting 40-60% of the time, which creates a wildly unfair/incorrect situation from game to game.

They REALLY need to fix the targeting rules.

I will argue that it wasn't blatant. It's definitely one of the more mild examples of targeting.

Definitely targeting.

The lack of punishment for uofm is problematic. Everyone may as well cheat.

I 1000% agree and that's been my argument here since they created this dumb rule. Remember, the lack of a targeting call cost OSU the chance to play TCU for the title. The year TCU beat TTUN and GA beat us thanks to that no call.

I also think they should get rid of the suspension aspect. 15 yards, fine. But a mandatory suspension with the first violation seems excessive.

As for this specific instance, it's pretty textbook targeting. Helmet to helmet. Launched himself. Led with his head.

BTW, Clemson was down 16-0 at home to Troy. They came back to win 27-16, but this the team LSU beat that ESPN said was proof LSU was #1.
