Something about the produce out in California. It's incredible. Eating a lot more of it, and buying food a day or two in advance at markets/bakeries/meat shops is definitely changing my lifestyle and body.
Was a 32 waist when I got here. Now the 32s are belt-necessary and the 31's I used to struggle into fit perfectly. Not really trying, just walking a lot and eating a fuckload of produce.

I tried lifting weights last night. 1 set biceps, triceps and shoulder press.
My left shoulder isn't terribly happy. It's arthritic and I have a partially torn tendon in that shoulder. We'll see. I can't do leg lifting, due to knee issues in one knee (I did really light weight, like 100 lbs leg presses the other day, and couldn't use my knee for a week. Which seems odd, cuz standing up is more weight than that right?).

						If you have to start lower, start lower, even if you think it looks stupid or is a waste of time.  Do them nice and slow, full sets, just wake up those muscles and remind them that they have a job to do, then if it feels ok the next day bump up the weight by 5% and do it again, see how it feels the next day.
I had my best pain yet recently, left shoulder. No idea what I did, or what it was, but for about a week I would roll over in my sleep and wake up in pain because... something.
I just kept working it in the gym and for the last couple days I've been pretty good, knock on wood.

If you stand with 100% perfect posture, your knees are splitting weight evenly. Your body has evil, sneaky ways of knocking you out of that ideal in order to redirect force away from weak points. When you have a machine to help isolate the weak muscles, you notice more.
If "really light" weight is putting your knee in decom for a week, then you ought to reevaluate your definition. Cut the weight and reps in half next time. Move through reps gradually. Tack on 5 lbs and a couple reps per set, walk around for about 30-45 seconds in between. Lather, rinse, repeat until you notice some strain.

						I have been giving it some thought, and I think the key is attitude. You've got to tell that worn-down cartilage (from too many bicycle miles) to go fuck itself and regrow before you really get pissed.TheCatt wrote:Yes.
