Stranger, is this Urbanmech thing for real?
Yes! it's for real!. Even Russ says in the podcast how he can't believe that people want this mech in the game so bad, so they are doing it. I find it hard to believe a 30 ton light that only goes 32kph viable at all. I'm guessing its heavily armored though and can carry big ballistics and the fact that it has 360 degree cockpit rotation makes it quite unique. It will be interesting to see when it does arrive in April.

It can still only fire in one direction at the same time, though. Seems like a slowly walking version of a base turret. Would need to be HEAVILY armored to be worth anything. Game opens, scouts get behind their lines fast and take out the 1 or 2 of these things that have barely left the base because they are so slow.

It was an April Fool's Day joke!
Last year it was, I don't think it is this year.
Zeece, i think you're mixing up two forum threads, one from last year that was an April Fools joke and the legit one posted today. The urbie curbie and rear AC20s part is from the april fools thread of 2014. Someone bumped it this morning.
As a trusted source of info, you're going to confuse a lot of people.

No. It WAS an April Fool's Day joke, now it's a legit mech in game.
Apparently, public response was so strong that they actually created the damn thing.

..... so instead of launching operation "Team HIDE" they can troll by getting these mechs.

I've gotta believe its just a trashcan with guns. But I guess it can have a place in the game if you just wanna defend the base or turret cannon. You just sit there with a big gun and you're only using 30 tons of you're drop deck.

I can't imagine they'll let them become an issue in game.
Russ tweeted that they're going to be testing it and will keep the community posted.

Listening more to the podcast of the last town hall and the Urbanmech being for sale is just a test. They simply don't know if people are fucking with them or not.
They've done the artwork, but nothing in game.
IF it sells well enough, they will build it. If not, they'll return everyone's money.
And just as an FYI, 30 days of premium time is $12. If you get the standard package for the Urban mech, you get 30 days of premium time in it. So you're really only paying $8 for everything else it comes with, which is obviously very reduced.
In related news, I'm seriously toying with the idea of getting a Resistance pack.

Update on the Urbanmech:
After 24 hours, it's at 50% of the goal they set before they'd make it.
The specs will NOT be what was suggested in the April Fool's Day joke as Russ is openly tweeting about it's top speed matching that of the Panther (which will be the slowest IS light mech!?) or be slightly slower than that.

Ugh, call me crazy, but that build sucks. Another glass cannon.

His legs and left arm are a little weak, but I see a lot of armor on him. He may not be a tank, but he's not glass either.

I did a little searching around this morning on your Wolverines Scooty. I've never piloted one so I can only go off of what I read and what most people like to build on them, but you've never been one to do what everyone else does so take it as you will.
First off your 6K gets 25% cooldown on LPL's, -25% LPL heat generation, and 50% LPL range. Those quirks are f-n awesome and they need to be in any build that you go for. As I look at that build that I posted before, I can agree that it is all firepower and you might be sacrificing some defense with that build. But I can say, I wouldn't worry about heat problems with that build, those quirks will keep that under control. I'd assign 2 of those lasers to one mouse button and the other two to the other mouse button. That way you can control the heat build by going back and forth between the two buttons, or you can alpha strike by hitting both buttons at the same time when you need it.
Here's a similar build that drops one of the LPL's in favor of a medium laser and it has max armor on it.
WVR-6K
This might be a better build when I look at it now, you will run cooler and run even faster because of the XL300 vs. the XL255. You can drop the Ferro-fibrous armor upgrade but then you will lose 2 heat sincs, not a big difference but that's up to you. Also the XL300 is the most versatile engine in the game, I'd say 90% of the mechs can use it and even if you don't like it for this Wolverine you can always use it in another, everyone should own at least one of these. So if you prefer to not go with an XL then you can drop that for a 245 standard. The speed difference is going to be pretty significant, the XL will go 88kph (97kph with speed tweak) and the 245 will go 72kph (80kph with tweak).
I have a hard time finding builds that don't use XL's in them but after doing the research, it can be done and it is viable. It just comes down to personal preference, more speed or more survivability. But like I mentioned last night, take note of your death recap screen. If your center torso is getting taken out before your side torsos most of the time then why wouldn't you put an XL in there? Some mechs just have better hitboxes and geometries that lend themselves to being able to hold XLs very good. I've got XL's and standards in my Shadowhawks (also a 55ton medium) and I find that my CT is always the first to go and very rarely do I die to a side torso getting blown up. So just experiment with and without them, having an XL300 is expensive but its always good to have one laying around and you can always go back to a standard for cheap anytime.
I found this thread about Wolverines on the forums and its a good read. Also I go to Mechspecs for a lot of build ideas, check it out.
I think you found a good mech in the Wolverine, all three of them have really good quirks and they all build and play in a different way. By the way, I just noticed this, the -6R is on c-bill sale right now for 2.9 million until sunday, PICK IT UP! and the -7K comes with an XL275 already in it, so that's why that one costs 7.5 million. Buy all three and elite them, then you will become the Wolverine master!

Like a Champion continues this weekend.
If you didn't make it, you have more time, and if you did you can grab a statue and a camo pattern.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I don't want to play that event again! I started developing bad habits going for kills and I feel like I was just starting to get over it the past couple days.

I'm kind of irritated that I put in the time to do it in the time allotted. Felt like I'd achieved something. Now they are just tacking on more time.

I'm irritated that I wasted a whole day doing it and played WAY beyond the point where it was fun. But now I learn I could have paced myself and still gotten it.
