Reggie Bush to sue the NCAA for defamation.

I'm having trouble seeing where they lied?

What are the odds that they don't actually sell those seats? I mean, that's a full stadium, but all of those seats are empty. He was the only one who got fucked?

Yeah so I tried to "buy" seats in 303A or 303B (the ones pictured are 303B). They aren't listed on the USC football site for annual purchase, or single game purchase. They were not on seatgeek for resale either.

I think Cake's right, it's just a joke.

College sports are ruined.
It was so much better when players were basically slaves.

What does slavery mean to you?
The average cost of attendance for a student living on campus at a public 4-year in-state institution is $26,027 per year or $104,108 over 4 years. Out-of-state students pay $27,091 per year or $108,364 over 4 years. Private, nonprofit university students pay $55,840 per year or $223,360 over 4 years.
This doesn't even count free food, travel, medical, etc.

You and I both know the vast majority of these kids aren't there for an education. Any other student could make money off their likeness, but not these kids. Any other student doing this much for the uni got money.

There's been a substantial gap between what they receive + the value they provide (based on football revenues)

I'm all for players getting to make money off of THEIR name and THEIR likeness. Things they wouldn't be able to do without that college logo next to it... However, I'm not for bankrupting schools, P2W, destroying what's left of integrity and fair competition, destroying college athletic departments, and so on.

Kids are already allowed to make whatever they can off of their name and likeness. So that's off the table.

Revenue sharing is a completely different animal. How do you determine people are watching for specific athletes and assign them revenue based on that? College history, fandom, and rivalries are why people watch, not because [insert name of recruit here] is playing WR.

People were watching for these reasons BEFORE college football and basketball became training camps for the pros. Swap the entire rosters of OSU and Tulsa and both schools are still getting the same ratings.

The free education, medical, training, food, travel, etc. IS revenue sharing. How much bigger does that have to get? How do we calculate and justify it? The students are already allowed to make money off their name and likeness, and the schools help them do so.

Most of these student athletes have zero chance of attending college without sports. I'm concerned a solution will be rushed and it will destroy that opportunity, if not completely, then mostly. Such a thing would be a net loss for society as a whole, but hey, a few people get paid, so yay! (Although, because college is such a shit show, I'm willing to consider that fewer people attending is a good thing in the long run.)

Side note: If we destroy the ability of most colleges to afford football programs, then say goodbye to a lot of NFL legends who needed college to develop.

Do we think Matt Rhule makes a statement tonight? Will the Huskers even cover the +7.5 in Minnesota?

I'm going to say 1) No, and 2) No.

But, you know, maybe that's just cuz I saw him coach at Carolina.

I took Nebraska +7.5 and got it right. Nebraska lost by 3, but was driving with a minute and change left before Sims threw a pick.

Stanford, Cal, and SMU are officially ACC members.

Wash St. and Oreg St. are now expected to join the Big-12

Now I'm hearing WSU and OgSU to the Mountain West.

However, the Big-12 is still in play. Also in play, the Mountain West schools all leaving to join the Pac-12. Honestly, that'd be the smartest move for them in terms of branding. Nobody cares about the Mountain West, but being the Pac-12 will still carry name recognition.
