But yes, the minute it makes sense, Clemson and FSU are gone.

I feel bad for Washington State and Oregon State.

They're probably looking at the real possibility that they will no longer be P5 schools. They not only need the ACC to not add Cal and Stanford, but they would also need the Pac-12 to somehow add a bunch of credible programs. I wonder if the Big-12 will absorb them in coming years to get to 20 teams?

Gene Smith is retiring in 2024.

Very well known AD who has done a lot for OSU, but I'll never forget that he cost us a national title when he let Fickell take a 6-6 OSU team to the "It probably doesn't even exist anymore" bowl instead of just self-imposing a bowl ban for tattoo-gate. Had he imposed that bowl ban, the Urban Meyer led OSU would have been one of two teams in the nation to go undefeated the following year. ND and OSU were both 12-0 and would have faced one another in the title game. Vegas had OSU as massive favorites. But because they weren't bowl eligible, Bama went and routed ND.

Speaking of...I wonder if Meyer has the inside track on replacing Smith?

WSU + OSU were never P5 schools. They're the dregs. They're Vandy, and BC, and Rutgers, etc.

ND wants Cal and Stanford in the ACC.

This is really interesting.

ND wants them. Clemson and FSU don't.

The ACC is well aware they have to do something or they're losing Clemson and FSU, but Cal and Stanford don't make sense financially. And not just Clemson and FSU either...
(Also complicating matters was that seven schools -- FSU, Clemson, Miami, NC State, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech -- were communicating about options outside the ACC earlier this year.)
Who else is out there to grab? Is it possible to steal from the B1G or SEC? What about a trade?

Lol. If ND wants to be taken seriously, they should join.

And bring some B10 teams with them. But I don't know who'd jump from B10 to ACC. It's all $$ now.

Why join? Did you notice they have full voting power? That's the part of the article that is shocking people.

I could see Maryland, Rutgers, Northwestern, etc. wanting to go to the ACC to be little fish in a little pond. However, those additions aren't keeping the conference's big dogs who are apparently all looking at leaving.

And yes, the real money is with the B1G, followed by the SEC.

Another little factor that could play into this all is ESPN's losing money and budget cuts. Remember, they own the rights to the ACC and might not want to pay for something nobody watches unless Clemson or FSU are on (speaking football). TV money is drying up across the board. That's why the Pac-12 was stuck with a terrible deal from Apple.

They're looking, but they can't leave. Not for a while.

The ACC's problem is there's no one to take. The East is already taken. Unless they took apart the B12.

At the end of the day, I'd rather UNC be in the B10 than the SEC.

Yeah, I think UNC fits the B1G better. Clemson and FSU feel like SEC schools.

Yep. Can the ACC Just jettison a few schools and be The B10-ACC division?

NCAA rejects TTUN's deal for Harbaugh suspension.

Sounds like they're a bit pissed about TTUN's constant public claim that this is about a cheeseburger.

TTUN should do the smart thing here and just sit Harbaugh the first four games anyway. They're against absolute creampuffs. You don't want to have him for those games and then watch as he gets suspended for bigger ones.

Deion Sanders is a fucking idiot.

I get the sentiment, but that wasn't the lesson that should be taught in that moment.

Saban signs son of a former player.

The part that stood out to me
Kirkpatrick Sr. played for the Crimson Tide from 2009 to 2011,
The son is class of 2024. Dad was class of 2009 (high school). So he had the kid early in high school.

I'm still totally confused on what actually happened, or didn't happen.

I think everyone is.

The one thing that really bugs me is the ex-player that started the whole thing specifically said his goal was to get Fitz fired due to a vendetta. Seems like that's an important tidbit and nobody talks about it.
