Sometimes you just want to say FUCK YOU, PERSONAL BODY WEIGHT.
I do want to ask my body "Hey, you don't need these fat stores, why hold on to them? I mean really, have you ever REALLY been starving?"

Thanks!

That was after two days of carbs, too... (up 8 pounds from low).

Goal now is working on more muscle/less fat.

Graph of my resting heart rate: Guess when I started eating carbs?

I think I'll be doing one of these bets. Possibly starting this evening.

Getting into fighting shape for Disney.

Plus, I saw the trailer for Entourage where Rhonda Rousey says if you last 1 minute in the ring with her, she'll fuck you. I need to be ready for that.

Yeah, I was thinking about taking her up on that. I can take a beating.

Needs to be the opposite. If you fuck her and that takes less than a minute, then she gets to beat the shit out of you in the ring.

The dietbets have been nothing but $ for me.

You can easily lose a real 10 pounds, then fake the rest with dehydration/no carb, honestly.

And a big meal right before your first weigh-in.

That's one of the smartest things you've ever posted.

So I shouldn't join AND start working out tonight?

Also, you can do up to 3 contests at a time. And the final round is HALF the payout. So you could go slow/lose a few rounds the first two months, (assuming you do 3 6-month ones), and win a lot at the end.

Nov-May contest: Final round: 182.52
Dec-Jun contest: 36.83 - 12.50 = 24.33
Jan -Jul contest : 29.27 - 12.50 = 16.77

Up 186.37 + 223.62 = 409.99
1 more ended, 1 to go.
409.99 + 102.28 + 15.48 = 527.75 so far

Started rock climbing a couple of months ago. I'm pretty bad at it, particularly due to lack of finger strength. I did towel pull ups [wrap a towel around the pull up bar and grab with one hand while other hand grips bar] to help forearm and grip strength. Hard. I think I managed 3.

Busted out an international distance triathlon (training, not a race) this morning. 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run.

That run was alright until I hit about 5 miles in. Then my body just wanted to stop. It was like "OK, enough, let's walk home and drink an ocean of Gatorade"... forced myself to keep going, but it was tough.

This upcoming weekend I'm doing an offroad triathlon. Shorter distances than I went today: 880 yard swim, 14 mile bike, 3.1 mile run but all offroad (lake swim, mountain bike instead of road bike, and trail run). woot woot

I went from 203 to 178 in 1 month by getting rid of carbs, and lifting weights, and being dehyrdated that last day. I was really around 182, properly hydrated.

I added the carbs back, and am up to 190. I've also posted my fastest 10k (58:30) ever and my first international distance triathlon (1.5k swim / 40k bike / 10k run) ever.

During the tri, despite drinking/eating about 45-50 ounces of liquid/food, I lost 6 pounds of liquid, which I gained back later that day.

According to my fit bit, I burned > 5,000 calories that day.

Interesting book about genes, adaptability, and potential for people to grow muscle, get fit, etc.

Basically, training is good, but training + good genes = best. And same training, different people = different results. (Kinda obvious, but he goes into good details and stories explaining it).

One interesting point: The more difficult a task (say, math), the better all people got by training. But, the people who improved the most were the people who were the best at first.

At any rate, makes me wish I could get my genomes sequenced to find out all these details, and better understand my potential for various things.

Thib - Another interesting point was the 5:1 ratio of muscle:bone weight, basically meaning you cannot get more than 5x your bone mass in muscle mass. Which reminded me of when we were talking the other day and you had talked about basically leveling out on strength gains.

I thought that was given for any learned skill.

Clearly you're not familiar with educational policy.

I'm quite familiar with my educational policy. Unless it's a trick with very low ceiling, like tying shoes, I fail to see how logic allows for any other outcome.

Want to be good at something? Practice will suffice most of the time.

Want to be exceptional? You need some type of predisposition or instinct on top of practice, i.e. shit you can't learn.
