Topics of the day:

1) The Big Ten was over-rated.

2) The best Big Ten team did not make the playoff.

Ratings down HUGE for CFP.

Having these games on New Year's Eve is about as stupid a decision as can be made.

Last year was the first year and they had a defending champ, perpetual bridesmaid Oregon, the SEC's poster boy Bama, and the Buckeyes who are the top draw in college football.

This year they had Clemson who half their own state hates, Oklahoma who everyone knows comes out of a weak conference, Bama and their one hit wonder, and MSU who had no business being there (played Oregon without their starting QB, beat Michigan on a fluke final play, and beat OSU without the terrible Conner Cook and in the rain during OSU's worst coached game in Meyer's tenure). They shouldn't have asked "Who's In?" in this year's ad, they should have asked "Who's watching?" or "Who gives a shit about any of these teams?"

I was gonna post something snarky about TCU getting it's ass kicked so badly, but things changed.

Turns out Oregon's starting QB went out right before half, and their center went out too.

TCU's starting QB, of course, is a criminal and didn't get to play.

The Stanford band keeps pissing people off.

They're kids doing something different, which will always piss older people off, but I kind of get the criticism too. They're not really doing anything other than mocking their opponents.

I'm pretty much a fan of anyone playing an SEC team.

Bama left Lane Kiffin behind after the game. Hilarious.

Apparently the vaunted Alabama defense wasn't as good as advertised. Not a shock.

Also, Clemson's vaunted defense wasn't as good as advertised. Again, not a shock.

Final AP poll

OSU finished fourth and would be favored in games against #2 and #3. Not sure about Bama, but I know they wouldn't have been a 7 point dog.

Year 2 of the CFP and I think the Big Ten fucked them again...but they had help.

OSU did their part to fuck things up, of course, but that muffed punt MSU got against Michigan is the play that sent them, wrongfully, into the playoffs.

Someone was breaking things down, I think Cowherd, and if OSU makes the playoffs, all the Big Ten bowl match ups are far more favorable, particularly for the idiots that got blown out: MSU, NW, and Iowa.

Iowa not playing anyone allowed them to fake their way into a big bowl.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma proved the Big 12 is crazy overrated and will be until Tom Herman (the best offensive mind on the planet) gets the Texas job.

Stanford #3, really?

Yeah, MSU really didn't belong. OSU should have been there, but shit happened.

UNC at #15 - I'll take it, a damned good year for us.

Saban says he's not retiring.

Cowherd made a really strong argument for an NFL team to steal Saban. You could make him the highest paid NFL coach for 2% of your TV check each year. There's some wisdom there.

If you're Saban and sitting and 5 national titles, don't you at least consider a huge payday from the NFL? What if Cincinnati made you an offer today?

We have a loaded team with a good QB and your former player as a backup. We need discipline and a winning attitude. We'll give you $10 million a year for 5 years and you can have a large say on players. Don't you take that deal?

Uni of Texas is fucking blind.
The University of Texas says an internal investigation has found no evidence of academic misconduct within the men’s basketball program.

Texas President Greg Fenves ordered the probe last June after the Chronicle of Higher Education alleged three incidents of cheating, improper assistance and school policy violations over a nine-year period.

I thought it was an automatic that the players get free passes to class.

On the one hand, nothing lef t to prove. On the other hand, why bother? Look at harbaugh, great coach, got sick of dealing with owners. Players had a lot of success under him, but he still got grief from them

But he does have a lot left to prove at the NFL level and I promise you that it eats at him. He was in a bad situation in Miami. Bad ownership there. You really think he doesn't see what Pete Carroll is doing and mumble that he's 10x the coach? I know he does.

The question really comes down to leaving a gig where he's getting a bit more credit than he deserves (and understand that he deserves a TON), is being paid well, his wife is happy, etc.

Harbaugh is a bad example because it wasn't his choice to leave. He clashed with the owner. Truth be told, he's clashed with people everywhere he's been. Hell, he had a feud with Michigan and he just played there. He'll be back in the NFL, but it'll have to be the right situation. I think he learned that he'll need a Belichick or Tomlin situation before he can go back.

Oregon State's Jarmal Reid intentionally trips official and gets ejected.

article w/video.

The first shot they show, you can't tell, but once they show it from the front, it's obvious. He looks right at the official and then extends his leg.

The Pac12 is reviewing, and honestly, they need to make an example of this kid. He needs to be suspended the rest of the year.

FSU is settling out of court with the girl Winston allegedly raped.
The settlement agreement says Kinsman will receive $250,000, and her attorneys will get $700,000

Wow. She's getting raped again.

Where March Madness currently stands.

OSU is in the first 8 out and they should be. The win against Kentucky was awesome, but this team has a lot of growing to do before they can make a tournament run.

Pretty reasonable list. Clemson has been doing great in the ACC, wrecking a lot of teams. Be nice to see them make it.

Buy me a ticket for an aeroplane, ain't got time to take a fast train.
During a 12-day stretch in his first month on the job in 2015, Harbaugh and his staff’s jet travels amounted to more than $10,000 a day in value, university records show.
