I bought the advanced zoom, have tried it on a couple different mechs. It is nice.... you can see the color of the pilot's eyes in a mech 1500m away. Problem is, weapons don't go that far. Nice things is, pinpoint legs at 800m with the ER-PPCs.

Stranger, find some Jager builds. :D

Specifically, the -DD and -S.

I didn't forget about this post. I own the -S and did a build similar to this, JM6-S. But I don't have an XL255 so I was using an XL300, I had to sacrifice some ammo and armor to accommodate. This is set up to take advantage of the quirks, but the AC2's are in a real weak place right now and this article explains why. It does pretty good, but just the other day I changed it over to a dual gauss with a tiny ass 215 standard in it. Is super slow but you wanna stay way back and snipe with it. If I had an XL255 I'd drop that in there.

As for the -DD I think this looks pretty good, JM6-DD. You either love or hate the UAC5's and I tend to not like them. I've seen peeps do some complicated long maths on these and say the dps is still better than the regular AC5's. When they don't jam they definitely put out some serious damage, but I always get them jamming after a shot or two, so frustrating. The key to using the UAC's is to have a firing discipline when using them, something I don't have. You shouldn't always try and double tap them, use it only when you really need that little burst. Problem is, I seem to always want that little burst!! The 6 ballistics hard points look sweet but you'll have a hard time using them all without putting a bunch of machine guns on it (don't do it, I tried!)

It seems like if you don't put an XL in a Jagermech you are seriously gimping your firepower unless you don't mind moving along at 50kph. And those tiny little arms don't block shit so you will be getting your torso's blown off constantly, and people know this weakness. So I've had a little trouble with the Jager, some games i'll get some good damage in and other I get wrecked in no time. I have a hard time not trying to brawl in every mech I pilot and the Jager is NOT built to brawl. But the high hard points are fucking awesome for hill humping and not exposing much of the mech.

I'm not that happy with the JM6 yet. It's just so slow. I should have stuck with my 'fastest mech that can run AC5s'. I stuck with him though, trying to find a groove. But it's just so slow. You get to the fight, and that's pretty much where you live for the rest of the match. Sure, you can try to relocate and whatnot. But then you are leaving the fight for so long. I stripped the medium lasers to add more armor. Stuck with the standard engine as well. He moves at about 65. My Cicada runs close to 150. With the added armor, I last a lot longer in matches. But still don't do that much damage. You are so vulnerable when you can't move!

Ended up switching back to my Cicadas for a few matches last night. Dusted off my sniper. Dual ER-PPCs. Much more to my liking. In coming missiles? Who cares? Just back peddle. Pop up over the hill, take a few shots, back up. Move to another spot real quick. Repeat. Run way around and flank them. Take a handful of shots because it takes them a bit to figure out where you are and turn. Then sprint to a completely different spot. I like being mobile.

Will keep trying with the JM6 though. Leisher does well with his Cataphract, which is similar to mine. Just have to figure out the best way to fight with him. I feel like I need to be selfish and just sit behind cover and take out enemies running into us and not exposing myself to the enemies. Let everyone else go out and do a bunch of damage, take all the damage. Then I'll find the stragglers and finish them off.

The 30% off sale is still going until tomorrow and I'm still trying to decide what I want to buy. Its a waste to lets these c-bill sales go by without picking something up. Was thinking about buying some Hunchbacks to fill out my medium roster, you can save about 1.2million c-bills per mech. But a part of me wants to buy either a Stalker or Banshee, you save almost 2.5 - 3 million c-bills if you buy them right now. But I've already got 3 Battlemasters and a King Crab and i'll need to get two more of those when they get released for c-bills next week. So assaults prolly aren't a good buy for me right now... But they're such a good deal!!

The Hunchbacks are the smart buy, but they only come with STD200 engines they need something bigger than that, prolly an XL255 is what I'd like to put in them and that means buying one of those too. Like Gordo has been saying, "There's never enough C-bills"

House Davion faction sale now through Sunday. Lots of the same mechs that were in the last sale, but it looks like they will be doing a sale for each faction. So save up them c-bills cause there's never enough.

Also, Russ Bullock is holding another Town Hall meeting tonight at 9pm. I listened to the last one and there's lots of good stuff he addresses.

I'll download the podcast tomorrow and listen to it while driving to and from work the next couple of work days. I'd rather use my gaming time for gaming! :D

Other topics:
-I'm being serious when I say, should we dump TKV? TKoV serves the purpose, but it does bug me. Granted, we can try for TKV again after the next patch and it might be there, but if not, do we move on?
-Should we have unit colors? All mechs are green to start, so do we go with something different? Do we want flashy like Bright red (which I honestly believe draws fire) or do we want to blend into our environments? I've got two all black mechs now and I think they're damn near invisible on night maps. Maybe darker primary colors and flashier trim colors? Do we make a certain pattern a team thing?
-Stranger, find me an Atlas -K build. He looks like less of a brawler and more of a long range guy. That'd be a new play style for me. Or do you think I should just sell him back (how do you do that?) and buy the Atlas with the ECM and make it my third Atlas?
-I should be on tonight, 9ish.

If we can't get TKV, we need to go the comedy option, after a long discussion.

HDNW - Hitler Did Nothing Wrong

Colors - I am not sure I will be spending any money. I currently have 4 or 500 or the.... RP... whatever the real money is called in the game.... but don't you need to skin every mech? I think don't worry about it.

I'm pretty sure TKV will not be available, and probably a lot of the ideas we come up with will not be available. Like I said before, I have no particular long term ties to TKV and have no problem what so ever dropping it. So any new ideas are fine on my part, but we should have some alternates because the chances our first choice is available are slim.

Color.. I'm all for it, but I can understand not wanting to pay real money. Some colors are on sale right now and more will be in the future, I guess its something we can keep an eye on. I currently own 5 colors right now, white, orange, brown, red, grey.

Let me do some research on the -K, I know its not as popular as the others and that the DDC is almost a must have as an Atlas owner. But you might like something that works for you and that's all that matters.

I'd prefer an option that doesn't make us look like white supremacists. :D

Colors and patterns are a one time purchase. Out fit the same pattern/color on as many mechs as you like. At least, I know that's true for colors. They're also the cheapest things in game and I would recommend we don't get them unless they're on sale. It's basically just buying ultra cheap skins.

I currently own Hot Rod Red and Black for colors. I think I own a pattern, but I have no idea what at the moment.

I wouldn't ever force anyone in spending real money if they want to, but if we ever get serious about CW, I think it'd be cool. Plus, it's got to make finding each other in game easier than switching lances pre-drop for whatever reason.

Keep the color costs below 180 and I'm in. That's how much I got from stockings.

I think some colors are cheaper than that.

Earn a Cataphract 3D© mech this weekend.

(And the mech bay, and 3 days premium time.)

After this weekend I'll own all the CTFs.

So I think this weekend challenge is a little harder than it seems. Looks like you need at least 1 kill, and at least 1 assist and win the match to get a point.
In order to score 1 point you must meet all three of the following criteria in a match:
•Get 1 or more Kill, get 1 or more Assist, and Win the match via either the Primary or Secondary objectives.

Although when I think about it, its probably smart to just play balls to the wall tag a few mechs as you play and go for a kill. If you die don't stick around and see if you won, just jump into the next match and do it again.

I would love to get 12 kills in a match this weekend (Death Star achievement) or 12 assists (I forget what that achievement is called) and NOT get a point towards the CTF-3D. I wouldn't even be mad. :D

To key to this is the kill AND the win. Assists, as we know, are easy.

I'll bet this is a way to make folks be more interactive. During previous challenges folks have simply gotten into a game and then gone afk. All they needed was a win or to play x number of games. I think PGI has learned from those challenges.

Make a note of your bank account once you get the 3 points and the premium time goes active. Then ignore it all weekend and look at it again after you play the 30+ (I'm betting 60-100) matches to get the CTF-3D. It should grow substantially.

Although when I think about it, its probably smart to just play balls to the wall tag a few mechs as you play and go for a kill. If you die don't stick around and see if you won, just jump into the next match and do it again.

Agreed. If nobody is on, play till you're dead, then quit the match, move to a new mech, and do it again.

If we're all on playing, wait until the last guy falls, then move to the next game if it looks like the end isn't close.

And NO Invasions this weekend. That's 30+ minutes for a single win, IF you win.
