If you watch the video, Trump moved his head seemingly as the same time as the first shot. That might have saved him some additional damage.

I'd need to know the distance to guess how many inches his last minute head movement saved him. It sounded like a decently powered rifle, compared to the pistol pops right after..... but I'd GUESS the round wasn't supersonic.
At 500 yards there's a distinct delay in a supersonic .556 rifle round (which is small) between hearing the crack of the round zipping over your head, and then hearing the bang of the rifle.

Someone said a SS counter-sniper team got him. If it was another rifle, it was farther away and sounded like handgun pops compared to the closer rifle.

Here's my wildcard prediction:
Next public appearance he makes, someone else will take a shot at him.
There are a whole bunch of unhinged lefties walking around with wide eyes tonight, and it's soaking in that someone made the person that's been built up in their minds as Super MegaHitler, bleed. It's possible, is ringing through their heads. It's going to happen again.

Robert Pape, a political scientist at the University of Chicago who has studied American attitudes toward political violence since the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob, conducted a nationwide poll on the topic last month. It found that 10 percent of those surveyed said that the “use of force is justified to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president.” A third of those who gave that answer also said they owned a gun.
Seven percent of those surveyed said they “support force to restore Trump to the presidency.” Half of them said they owned guns.
Far left more unhinged than far right. Not a surprise to everyone.

I'd forgotten for a minute how psycho my fellow humans are.
When I quit social media (I dont count FB because I block everything that isn't about food, hiking, scuba, and sci-fi) I forgot about that.

Butterfly effect for sure. We are in a dark timeline, but there's a bunch of other ones in the multiverse where Trump brain was just spattered all over the crowd and something like a mini Civil War erupted. Woah.
Good week for me to be locked up in a law firm. Or in a courthouse with metal detectors and feds.
