Felt hazy and headachy yesterday, as I think I always do when I stop eating carbs, but made it through the day. Still feeling a bit out of it.

Calories.

Was reading Men's Health last night, and it had the following:
% of calories consumed that are absorbed:
Fat: 95-99%
Carbs: 95%
Protein: 70-80%

% of calories blocked by fiber:
Up to 20%

So basically, if you eat a high-fiber, high-protein, high-fat diet, you should absorb many fewer calories than SAD (standard american diet).

This matches well with the 4-hour body diet (Which is basically veggies, meat, and beans).

On day 3, have already dropped a few pounds that I assume are water weight, but feels good to see the scale go down.

Day 1 was rough due to almost no carbs (ate some peanut butter with dinner). Day 2 was better as I had beans with lunch and dinner.

I've got about 2 weeks to figure out what diet/exercise program I'm going to do, I'm leaning towards the 4 hour body 30 day diet for 60 days along with Insanity, which is a 60 day program.

Let me know how that works for you. I'm not doing much working out right now (having knee problems the past several months), but I tried doing some push-ups the other day, and felt like there was no energy in me.

Are you implying the diet sapped your energy?

I'm really debating the Insanity part. The wife made a good point to me today when I brought it up. She said that I'll do it and look great, but when I stop I'll put all the weight back on plus some, which is what usually happens to folks who do these very effective weight loss programs. So instead, I might just do the diet, plus a lower exercise program like situps, pushups, and some time on the exercise bike.

Not sure yet.

Yes. I'm probably not eating enough beans/veggies for carbs. And I'm not doing the post-workout meals that he ate (which had a lot more carbs) cuz I'm not working out.

Been on the road a lot for work, but have cut drinking any sort of beverage with sugar from my diet, and have been ordering lots of salads.

Down to about 180, which for me is pretty skinny. Wedding shape baby.

Lunch today was several ounces of bbq, a big spinach salad, some beans and some carrots.

I have to use salad dressing with the salad, but the once I use is primarily fat, but some sugar.

I find I can accept fat-free Ranch from Hidden Valley and fat-free Catalina from Kraft.

Those generally have too much sugar/carbs for me.

Week 1 results: 5 pounds dropped.

Energy has stabilized, making sure I eat enough beans, and adding a 100-calorie (5g fiber) whole wheat bread thing to my breakfast has worked wonders in keeping me from being hungry.

I'm also taking supplemental fiber with many meals to see if that helps keep food moving along.

I can't find my scale.

I'm guessing still 200-205 based on visual observation of my lower fatso region.

Well, if anyone wants to do a competition, let me know. I need to get in shape, and I keep failing.

I'm in.

I simply haven't had the time to get started, and I want something to force me to make time.

September first?

How much (%age wise) are you looking to lose? I'm gunning for 20%, but willing to do a competition to that or anything lower.

How about Monday the 29th? That gives us a full week and two weekends to eat terribly before starting a full diet and exercise program.

I'm thinking of a specific weight as a goal, but I think it falls within 15%-20% of my current weight (I'm not 100% on what I currently weigh).

By the way, will there be a wager or any other sort of carrot?

29th is 4 days away, not full week + 2 wkends. Just 1 wkend by my math.

I was thinking % to make it comparable between people. If I'm bigger, it'd be easier for me to lose 10 pounds than for you, in theory, since it's a smaller % of my weight.

Fuck me am I stressed out. You're right. The first is fine.

I'll have to weigh myself and get the exact percentage I want to drop.

What's the target date?

I am going on a cruise in mid-September. Not a good time to go on a diet.
