Well, they do say "could cost" and you can certainly spend that much on all of those things. But you don't have to.
Kids theses days: Burgers do cost $16!!
Me: Stop door dashing you dumb fuck.

I tell them that all the time. It's fucking ignorant.
How can I pay more for a meal that I could pick up for less and get it even slower than if I just got my lazy ass up.

Then there's the commercials where the family is driving home from 'whatever' and are passing the generic fast food burger place and the kids are all "Can we eat there?!" and mom's like "No, we're eating at home. So they get home and door dash food from that restaurant. That's a door dash commercial I see on Twitch A LOT. So Door Dash is suggesting you don't even stop as you drive buy. Keep going, and have them bring it to you cold and way over priced.

That commercial pisses me off too.
"Your fat, lazy ass can't get up to make dinner, but at least you're so stupid that you're willing to overpay for food instead of stopping on the way home."

I genuinely don't blame you, but that's essentially every account on every social media platform.
And to be fair to them on this specific post, it's not a lie. Sites all over the internet prove this goes on every Black Friday, and hell, almost every sale.

Which all by itself says a lot about the protections our government offers its citizens from predatory practices.

I don't want to get into a whole thing, but it's half the reality.
Both parties are responsible for negative things happening to consumers, and both have thrown lip service out there while actually doing nothing whenever they have the opportunity.
Yeah, I know about the CFPB and all the other things Trump has done in both terms (mostly aimed at financial institutions), but ultimately, this isn't just a Trump issue, and it's not just Black Friday deals. You really think all the illegal immigration costs, counting them to help determine house seats, etc. doesn't negatively affect consumers? How about Obamacare? How about the Community Reinvestment Act? How about blocking pipe lines? Blocking the building of new housing? The list goes on forever.
Sure, there's lots of handouts and promises of more during election cycles, but that's not helping anyone other than the politicians.
Our politicians are inept at best, more accurately, bought and paid for. Nobody is holding corporations accountable, and even when they pretend to, it's like fining a normal citizen a $1 for making $10,000 illegally.
And dumb consumers aren't helping matters either. I saw people on X today bitching about Panera and how expensive it's gotten versus smaller portions and whatnot. The best response, that too few people said and liked, was "Stop eating there." Meanwhile, the people people complaining are probably Door Dashing it...
