The NFL does have more parity than any of the other sports.

Our teams all suck.

Wentz is done for the year.

This gets interesting because there was speculation that the Vikings were purposely trying to avoid putting McCarthy back in as he mostly sucked. Unless his high ankle sprain really took longer to heal than anyone else ever.

Wentz has been playing through a dislocated shoulder that included a torn labrum and fractured socket, a source told ESPN on Monday, confirming multiple reports.
Good god.

Reports out of Pittsburgh claim Rooney is getting frustrated with Tomlin.

I won't believe it until I see it. That being said, Rooney would have to be the world's biggest moron to not be reaching some action. His white guilt can only shield him for so long. The entire fanbase is pissed. Many celeb fans and former players are publicly speaking out. All his minority owners have been calling for a change for years. The media has been changing its tune about Tomlin. Packers fans were so numerous last Sunday that the Steelers had to go to a silent count, and that shit NEVER happens, which means Steelers fans in Pittsburgh aren't coming to the games.

Even if Rooney "fires" Tomlin, you know it'll be a retirement announcement so everyone can save face.

Sometimes the parity is ridiculous. Today is apparently Bizarro day.

Yes. At least the Giants lost to keep things sane.

And I was able to watch 4 games at once in multi-view, like God intended.

Imagine if the Bengals had even half a defense.

68 yards!

Maybe they need to make the goalposts move or something?

Lol. And they already did that once, right?

Took me a second to remember, but yes. They moved them from the front of the end zone to the back, which, why were they ever in front?

Something has changed. I'm old enough to remember when 50 yards was an impossible kick, and now everyone makes that.

Dempsey's 60(?) yard record stood for decades, and just in the past 2 or 3 years we've had a 63 yard record and now 68. I'm pretty sure others have made 60 yarders that weren't the record.

Is the football different or are humans just getting better? If it's us, maybe we do genuinely need to discuss lengthening the field?

--------------------------------

I'm going 2-0 this week.

Too late in one league, but I'm in 1st place in the other.

Honestly dunno. But they went to the back in 1974 for safety.

Training is better. They also let people pre-break-in the kicker balls. Some people thinks that adds a couple yards +/-, some don't.

0-1 this week for me.

My theory.

Back in the day, their kicking style was stupid. Watch Dempsy's record kick for an example. Also, he had that foot thing which probably gave him an advantage over other people kicking that way.
Then they learned a new kicking technique.
Then they started looking at people who aren't in the sport. Haven't they recruited some soccer players? Goalies maybe? They widened the net, snagged some new talent.

Also, isn't it just a few kickers doing it over an over? It's not like all teams have 60+ yard kickers, do they?

The new kicking style (since Dempsy), and a wider, out of the old normal box, search for talent = longer kicks.
