I really think we're getting Trump-Haley as a ticket.

Understatement.
I think he'll do it to win.

For a moment I thought that said "Trump/Hillary" ticket.... and I couldn't decide if that was brilliant, or insane.
I thought McCaine/Palin was brilliant, I underestimated how deep they'd dig to destroy her.

The country's collective head would melt.
Who had BLM leader endorses Trump on their bingo card?
Not really that shocking though. We're seeing more and more black people expressing how they're tired of talk from the Ds every four years only to be forgotten outside of election cycles.

I wish the poor people from other races would also realize their lives aren't getting better for the last 50 years.

A "top" Atlantic editor says Trump is a threat to "America as we know it".
I'm thinking that's probably a positive thing to his base? Also, probably appealing to those folks who are feeling very disenfranchised by the two parties. I really think they need to stop pushing this since most Americans don't think the U.S. is on the right path.
Just keep talking about his scumbag behaviors.

“The first three years of the Trump administration, the economy was better than it has been, but that last year with Covid I think was mishandled dramatically. Shutting down the country was a huge mistake. Printing trillions and trillions of dollars was a huge mistake. That set the foundation for the inflation that we see," DeSantis said, adding that Biden later took office and made the problem worse.
There's some truth.

He's literally just saying that for political points, it's not very true. You throw $5 trillion into the economy, you get inflation. Biden's spending is certainly higher than pre-pandemic spending, but largely due to interest payments on that additional debt, coupled with increases in interest rates, since Trump's dumb ass administration didn't lock in the debt with low long term rates.

I reread what I wrote below, and there's definitely snark, but also legit questioning of the blame game.
So Biden's additional spending was all because of Trump? And the spending during the pandemic when money was given away like water while society was shut down was all Trump? All the Ds weren't demanding all of these things and voting for them? Trump gave all that money to Ukraine? What happens when, literal, millions of additional people are added to the population with no jobs skills, no means of providing for themselves, but have everything paid for by the government? That doesn't cost anything? (And yes, I get billions vs trillions, but it's not nothing.) Didn't Biden put us right back in the Obama negotiated Kyoto Climate thing that sees the U.S. footing the entire bill for China, India, and other "developing nations", which was the primary reason Trump pulled us out of it?
Rs and Ds will always take shots at one another, and things will always be exaggerations of truth. However, aren't you doing the exact same thing by laying everything at Trump's feet?
Or are we just focusing on the stimulus checks or tax rebates or whatever the fuck they were and pretending all the money spent during Covid didn't happen because it doesn't fit the story we're telling?
And does Trump get to blame Obama? Isn't Obama at the top of the list for spending? And can't Obama blame Bush, and so on, and so on...
Of course, that's where I'm going with this: Neither party is concerned with balancing the budget. They only care about handouts to their friends (foreign entities or corporate overlords) and tokens to their base to win votes.
I really think I might be a disillusioned voter.
It's what I have in common with the youngins.

No, but largely. And Trump's predecessors, since debt is cumulative. And Congress. I remember Trump pushing SUPER HARD to release the $$ floodgates and keep interest rates low. Which really hurt us in the long run. But people got drunk on the money. And now have a hangover.

Reagan and Bush are. Obama is behind them, ahead of W, Nixon, and Trump.
What? 5 of the 6 worst presidents for spending are Republicans? The hell you say. Rs only care about debt when Ds are spending.

Yeah. I remember years ago I became a "one issue voter - the national debt," and realized no one (politically) gave a fuck.

Fair, and yes, debt is cumulative. Remind me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't Clinton close to having a balanced budget? (Not saying the debt was gone, but we could make payments towards getting rid of it.)
Also, I am 95% sure YOU were who I remembered discussing the consequences when those checks came out.
However, I still stand by my statement that nobody in DC seems interested in actually reducing spending and paying off our debt. Parties are irrelevant.

To be fair, "and vice versa".
Holy shit, FDR and Woodrow Wilson.
It is odd that Rs spend so much considering they are the ones billed as being fiscally conservative. Probably why so many R voters keep bitching about it.

I truly believe that having the ability to think things through long term is a skill that most people do not have. I think we should learn it as we become adults, but for some reason the majority of people don't. I do not know if it's a natural thing or something society has created, but if more people had that ability, I think the national debt would be higher on voters' list of concerns.

My memory is that I said it would be inflationary, but necessary in the chaos. So, I'm not exactly innocent here either other than having no power.

The R's version of "fiscal conservative" is to 1) cut taxes and 2) oppose whatever a D wants to spend $$ on.

Yeah, people are bad enough at "that's a future me problem" much less "that's a future someone else problem"
