But i think its good, because now you can get in a little closer to those AC users without worrying about getting plunked constantly from 1000 meters. I think this promotes brawling a little more.
Great, the guy with the AC 20 can't shoot you while moving in to brawl, but you can shoot him with your lasers and LRMs...
They are adding heat to them, making bigger mechs take more damage when they fall etc.. This is much needed.
I personally think in terms of combat, JJ changes are the most needed item in the game.
The heat build up and the fact you gotta hold your shot on target for the duration make them harder to use.
You have to hold your shot with which lasers? I thought the "hold your shot for the duration" was specific to the Clan mechs. It was their downside for more range, less heat or whatever.

Heres what i mean by that.
medium and large lasers have a 1 second duration. To deliver the full damage of 5 points from a medium laser you have to hold that laser in the same spot for the full duration. It may not seem like much but you can easily spread that damage between the arm, left torso and center torso doing maybe 1-2 points of damage to each section. And you also open yourself up to being exposed to counter fire while you hold that shot.
Now the AC5 will deliver its full damage to one component all the time, everytime. And you don't have to expose yourself for as long because you fire and forget it. Plus the heat buildup on AC's are far superior to that of lasers.
Now the Clan mechs have said that they will have even longer durations maybe 1.5 seconds. They will do more damage but you will have to hold that shot for that much longer to deliver that full damage.
I think I'm going to suggest to them a way to "Pause" Premium Time. I get why they do what they do (they want something of a grind like any game), but I think it's a little unforgiving for folks who might have spent real money on it.
Let's say you get 30 days, why not allow someone to activate it a day at a time or a week at a time. Or even allow for half of the days you buy (in whatever amount) be activated day by day, and the other half is activated upon purchase?
It maintains the grind, but adds some allure to buy premium time, and in greater quantities.

I have tried just about every single combonation of engines and loadouts with my Orion-P and for the life of me i just can't seem to get it to work for me. Even though i have a winning record with it, my damage output is pretty week and it just seems to get blown up so fast with that big ass center torso.
So instead of putting anymore effort and time into the Orions i decided i needed a new heavy class mech to focus on. Ill bet Leisher can figure out what i went with...
I went with the Jager and i already love it!! I had enough c-bills saved up to purchase the mech and put in the double hs and endo-steel right off the bat. I had an XL300 engine laying around and dropped that in there. I loaded it up with 2 UAC5's and 4 medium pulse lasers. With the 300 engine it will run at about 75kph and thats before speed tweak, thats pretty fast for a 65 tonner. The best part of this mech though is its super high mounted ballistics. I can just expose the top of the mech and shoot over ridges like a champ, no more shooting the ground infront of me from the low slung arm mounted ballistics.
Even though it has an XL engine it feels like its tankier than the Orion with a standard, and its so much more agile and able to get outta sticky situations much easier. I'll definetly be mastering this class next as there are a few other Jagers' that have different hardpoints and even the Firebrand Hero mech.
If I hadn't gone with the Cataphract, I'd be in a Jager.
I'm actually considering the Blackjack for a medium, although most folks seem to rock the Hunchback.

those were the first two that i suggested to you when you were deciding and go figure, they are the best in class for heavies.
As for mediums.. i'm liking the Blackjacks latley, been seeing more and more of them. They are just like mini Jagers, high ballistic harpoints with JJ's. They even look like a Jager.
I'd stay clear of the Hunchies right now, all of their weapons are loaded in that hunch and its just a big target to shoot at. I know its the first thing i shoot at when i see one, you take that out and they are useless.

Never seen this before, you can get an Atlas for 4.8M c-bills! not sure how long this will last either. Its not the D-DC which is the ECM capable Atlas, but its half off.

Something happened in the MW:O world today, but I'm having trouble nailing down what exactly happened.
My best guess is that the Clans went live on the Public Test server.

Clan mechs drop today for all those that preordered them. I'd think we will be seeing plenty of them online tonight eventhough they were pretty expensive. Maybe we'll even see one of those suckers who paid $500 for a gold one!

Still no info on how many C-Bills they will cost. And it will be a while till we can purchase them that way anyways. Heres a schedule of when the rest of us commoners can purchase these Clanners for C-bills and MC.

Well, we know they're going to be OP initially (like every new champ in LoL).
The thing they have to be careful about is making them so OP that folks stop playing Innersphere mechs. I realize it's canon to say they're much better, but that doesn't translate to game play very well.

From what i'm reading people seem to think that its pretty balanced from the public testing. IS has better pinpoint high alpha damage and Clans have better DOT. So yeah, when you see one of those Clanners with an AC10, those are putting down burst fire. So basically its shooting 5 AC2's with one pull of the trigger, the same goes for LRM's as those are shot in a streaming manner, not one big blob like IS.
I do expect the Clan to seem a bit OP though, just because the of the intidimation of constant fire they can put out. But SRM's have also been fixed and are a viable brawler weapon now. That fix is also in this patch and should be put on mechs that can utilize them.
I'm seeing on Twitter that they're getting blasted right now. Apparently, Clans hitting has brought in a lot of new/old players.
The login to the site is down and staying down because they're trying to minimize traffic.

I have been able to play one match so far.. Matchmaker is taking forever, or it just says match cannot be found right away. Apparently lots of traffic is causing some serious problems on their end. They are working on hotfixes
The free mechbay and premium time are still available to anyone that logs in before friday. So Gordo and Cake... You guys should at least log on to get these. The mechbays are only available for MC so its worth it. They will start giving these free gifts out friday night after 7pm.
Also, the first bit of real info has been released about CW. This has to do creating units and factions, assigning ranks, and contributing to unit coffers. No known information on what units can do with these c-bill coffers but that sounds interesting.
