C'mon, you really think this won't happen because of federal law? The minute votes can be gained by making this happen, it'll happen. However, that being said, I am optimistic it won't because most people don't want segregation again. The people pushing this shit are a small and extreme percentage.

I think you have roughly a 0% chance over over-riding the Civil Rights Act, or the 14th amendment. In our lifetimes.

There is always a greater than 0% chance.

Bob Huggins seems like he might be angling to get his job back.

Stay gone asshole.

This NW scandal is getting more damning.

Why does this stuff go on at the worst programs?

More twists and turns in the NW story.
A current Northwestern player, who asked to remain anonymous, also told ESPN on Sunday that the former player, whose hazing allegations late in 2022 launched the investigation, informed him of a detailed plan with the sole objective to take down Fitzgerald. The current player on Sunday relayed a conversation he said he had early this year with the former player to Northwestern trustees and other influential university figures.

"He just kept emphasizing, 'Yeah, it'll be OK. I'm just trying to get Coach Fitz fired,'" the current player told ESPN. "I don't think he ever acknowledged what he's saying is not true. It was just like, 'I might embellish or exaggerate to get Coach Fitz fired.' He said his sole goal was to see Coach Fitz rot in jail.

Huggins and his lawyer are adamant he didn't resign and sounds like they may sue.

The university has an interesting response:
The university provided a timeline of the weekend of June 16-18, citing conversations and correspondence between the school and James Gianola, Huggins' lawyer. According to Taylor's letter, Gianola informed West Virginia on the night of June 17 that Huggins planned to resign and retire then asked if the university would accept his resignation via an email sent by his wife. The school also stated Huggins specifically told his players on the night of June 17 that he was resigning.

Gianola also reviewed and approved of Huggins' resignation announcement that was released by the university, according to Taylor. Huggins cleaned out his office on June 18.
Northwestern fires Fitzgerald.

I think once the racist stuff came out they had to fire him. Claims were made that he made black players shave their dreads.

It really does. Every time I look there's new stuff, but still no smoking guns that can definitively be put on Fitz. The "making black guys cut their dreads" is the closest thing to real charges against him.

But honestly, if the program is this bad and filled with this much smoke, they need to clean house. I'm seeing reports that the baseball and basketball teams are not without scandal either. I'm thinking the president of NW should be firing the AD on down.

NW will keep all the asst coaches.

That makes complete sense. Fire the HC who didn't know, but keep assts who were more likely to know or were just as in the dark, and thus, as responsible as the HC for not knowing.

Braun, one of five assistants who joined the team this offseason, previously served as defensive coordinator at North Dakota State.
Well, a lot of them are new. So that makes sense.

Sure, the new ones. Anyone who has been there longer than 10 minutes needs to go.

Yeah, settlement between $15M and $20M, is my guess. But, private institution, so we'll probably never hear.

NW fires their baseball coach now too.

Sounds like that program might be worse off than the football program.

Here come the lawsuits against NW.

SEC president says Congress needs to fix NIL.

Or, and follow me here, the P5 conferences and their billions of dollars can hire an independent firm to set up fair rules that prevent the destruction of NCAA sports.

No, let's get the most incompetent and unknowledgeable people we can find and make the tax payers fund it.

Remember the other item I posted earlier about the guy who pushed all this making it very clear that his whole purpose was to get Coach fired.

I am also very confused.

Women's NIT on the way.

Serious question: Does someone really think this will be a money maker?

I realize the women's tournament did fantastic in the ratings last year, but shouldn't we wait to see if that was a fluke? The ratings were high for basically the Final Four, and while the championship game was a record high, it was still lower than the men's championship and that was a record low. Was it high because of good games, stars, and a big story fueled by MSM hyperbole?

How were the ratings for the first round games? That's the question because the NIT is a tournament featuring teams not good enough to get into the NCAA tournament. I don't know a sports fan who sits down to intentionally watch the men's NIT. This is often true even when their favorite team is in it.

That being said, bowling is a televised sport, so...

I have long said a great show for ESPN would be to cover a couple of random amateur golf leagues from around the country. Not individual players trying to win a tour card or something, but actual Joe Schmoe's like us. Put a camera in the cart. A couple around the course and watch guys hack their way around while relentlessly mocking one another. No scripts. No direction. Just guys being guys. PC would demand we do a girls league too, and that'd be cool too, but probably way less fun. The only problems would be the censors would probably severely exhaust their fingers hitting the bleep button and most of the guys would get cancelled for typical "guy jokes", like the "DO". (Stands for "Dick Out" when a guy's tee shot doesn't even make it past the women's tee, which is usually 5-50 yards in front of the men's.)

Fitzgerald named in ex-NW players' lawsuit.

I'm sure this is SOP, but it's interesting since the independent third party that did the investigation found he knew nothing.
