They were $15 or $20 per season at Walmart, so I bought the first 5 seasons.
God damn, near the end of season 2, this shit is getting dark.

This is your first time through?
Season 2? You don't even know what dark is yet. Keep going.

I remember seeing the first episode with Angel. It was funny how skinny he was. Up and coming starving actors and all.

All in all we're really enjoying the series... but we just watched a really good "Evil Universe" episode in season 3 where Cordy wished Buffy had never come to Sunnydale.
I almost expected 'Xander to have a goatee.

They had some killer writers for that show. The spinoff Angel was pretty good too. I especially like when he become Angelus. They took dark to a whole new level on prime time.

So do I need to watch seasons of Angel in between seasons of Buffy for it to make better sense, chronologically?
Just finished season 3, tonight, They survived high school.

I saw a couple of seasons of Angel, and it didn't seem to tie over a whole lot.

Angel is optional, but there are a few timely cross references thrown in for the fans watching both at the time. It's certainly not at all necessary, but what I did was watch disc and disc, so that the episodes from each series were mostly coincident with how they aired.
But it was only worth it because it was no effort. If there had been any effort at all involved it would not have been worth that.

Well I missed the $55 sale, so if it isn't important then I'll just skip it for now and get Angel later.

BTW, I still need Season 5 of Buffy. If anyone sees it cheap, let me know.

Join the club. Great actor, excellent character, and quite possibly the single most important character of both series, IMO. Overall, I mean.

Season 4 - "Hush."
That was interesting.
And Doug Jones was one of The Gentlemen. Did you know?

One of my top three faves there. They won some major TV award for that one, you know.
EDIT:
Emmy Awards:
* Outstanding Cinematography for a Single Camera Series "Hush" (2000)
* Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series "Hush" (2000)
