As to why women tend to want to fuck the assholes but hang out with the nice guys, it's a strategy that makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. See, the nice guy is going to provide for the kids and the woman and make a safe and reliable environment, thus leading to a higher likelihood of survival to breeding age for the children. But if she actually has his biological kids then those kids are also likely to be nice guys, and thus not so likely to breed with many women. Instead or best strategy is to cheat on the nice guy and have kids with the bad boy, the guy that sleeps with all the other guys' wives. Then her children will have the best of both: raised by a nice guy which provides for a secure environment, but with the biological edge of the bad boys and thus more likely to breed when coming of age.
In summary, the reason the majority of women cheat on their husbands is because that's what their ancestors did, and it's what works.
