I think the descriptions said that Jupiter helps keep asteroids at bay, but I don't see how.

No, gravity isn't repulsive it's attractive. It'd be more accurate to say that the Lagrange points 4 and 5 are attractive influences, thus the overall triangular look to the bunch.

I saw that today. Pretty awesome post.
I remember in 7th grade science we did the tongue tasting experiment, and I got it "wrong" because I could taste the stuff everywhere.
