I was raided yesterday between the time I left work (4) and the time I logged back on around 9. It was my own fault too.
I built a floor frame, which is new, for a ladder hatch, which is also new and fucking awesome. Anyway, it never occurred to me to upgrade it to wood, stone, or metal to strengthen it. Some jackass got into my base and used a hatchet on it, which eliminated the locked hatch. They only got into my exterior room, so damage was minimized, but still...
My base on this server is now 5 or 6 stories tall, has a large furnace, and is half sheet metal. Next will be exterior walls.
In related news, one group has successfully walled off an entire "location" from everyone else. It's the Water Treatment Plant and this has generated a lot of fighting.
This server has been about as close as I've found to what we'd all be looking for...
Rust - A thread for dying
Our friendly neighbors were raided last night. Faggus and his group quit the server. Nice guy, but holy shit did he go nuclear when he logged on today. Thumbless and the crew he hangs out with did it. It was from a beef earlier in the day that I had mentioned to you guys.
Roq and Mike.Jason.Thompson were raided too and I built them a high stone wall gate. It's in one of the chests. The raider that killed Roq was Alycatsmith or something. So he's a target as he might have been the guy trying to get into our house.
Tons of killing and raiding last night. More killing and arguments today, so yeah, really peaceful server...
I went south this afternoon and got the BP for rifle ammo. Hooray!
I also set up a house on the southwestern island. Just a small 2x2. Cake and Stranger have sleeping bags there. It's close to a lighthouse and warehouse and just south of the radar base and the nuke plant. The military tunnel is to the east. One other base on the island, but I think one C4 should get us into it if we wanted to evict them.

It does depend on the server and players you encounter though. Some will give you stuff. Others have pathetic real lives so when they see someone they have power over, they abuse it.
Jump on the servers I recommended previously and you won't have issues.

Stay off the rocks just outside the main base and the rocks with the opening you can run through. Both areas are mined.
We got raided. They took out three walls with C4, and I assume they'll be back.
The problem is I think it was the folks who control the server. They seem to do this to anyone that gets big enough to challenge them.

The raid was committed by onegun. He figured it out and apologized today. He thought he was raiding Frozensolid. He offered to replace everything, but I turned it down. He's been friendly previously and has a large group on the server that ISN'T the jackasses running it. I wanted to keep him feeling like he owes us one.
So that was actually a relief. I thought we were being targeted, but as it turns out, we're still out of the spotlight.
On the positive side of that raid, it forced me to quickly fortify the base and go get BPs so I could research the C4 and strike back.
Long story short: I can now build C4, AKs, bolts, semi-auto pistols, all the best ammo, and auto turrets. I also have the parts to build 2 auto turrets.
I want to continue fortifying and building skyward. On the climb up, I'm going to create one area with a kill zone for dual turrets. I think the top of the tower will only need to store the stuff we REALLY don't want stolen (C4), some spare weapons/ammo, and beds.
Anyway, we no longer are desperate for BP frags, but we'll take them.
Really, I just need resources, especially animal fat so I can start churning out C4.
I'll stock the boxes (second floor) with bolts, AKs, and ammo by the end of the night tonight. Ditto for whatever armor I can cobble together. Plus, picks and hatchets.
OH! We also need crude oil. Lots of it.

Brief rundown: Roq, onegun, Schm1tty, mike.jason.thompson are allies and anyone they run with. The most powerful group on the server is Timeseah (or something), Thumbless, Stinkfist, and their cronies. They're the overall target. They're the people dominating the server and who walled off the Water Treatment Plant. They're the ones constantly shooting down the heli and raiding people with the intention of wiping them out if they try to shoot down the heli.
They also own the server...
So I think winning a war against them would mean a wipe.

In other news, I found a different server last night when ours was down for updating, and it blew me away in how different the landscape was. Not how the island was laid out, but the actual terrain was FAR more varied than ours. It was like Kansas (ours) vs. Colorado.
The server is RDH (and some other words) and they're wiping TONIGHT. However, that wipe doesn't include BPs. Still, I'll probably work this weekend on establishing a foothold there. I think one of the best parts of the game is working to get established and get all the BPs to develop yourself into a fighting force.
Anyway, pretty sure myself, Cake, and Stranger will be on at some point this weekend. Troy might show up one day. Everyone else is welcome to join us.
