Biden makes journalism student delete pictures.
The student, a reporter at Capital News Service, a news organization run by the university, took photos of Biden at a domestic violence event in Rockville, Maryland, while outside of the designated press area.

National security, I'm sure.

White House will not acknowledge the questions of Obama's expensive golf vacations during the sequester.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/white-h....2524677

“How does the president justify lavish vacations and a golf trip to Florida at taxpayer expense and does he plan to cut back on his travel?” a reporter from Colorado asked after noting the high unemployment rate among minorities and the furloughs that federal employees face under sequester.

“I can tell you that this president is focused every day on policies that create economic growth and help advance job creation,” Carney replied. “We certainly do not need to embrace economic policies that shift the entire burden of deficit reduction on senior citizens, middle class families, and Medicare recipients.”

Would love to see a reporter actually press the person for an answer. But, one would not want to be banned from the press pool. One would regret it.

"I just voted for him because he was black."

Peeps is so stupid it makes me wonder if they changed the questioner's question for the video clip to make it funnier.

Joe Biden pulls his best Helen Lovejoy.
"Three months ago, a deranged man walked into Sandy Hook Elementary with a weapon of war," he said. "Let's get this straight. This is not about anybody's constitutional right to own a weapon. For all those who say we shouldn't and can't ban assault weapons - for all those who say the politics is too hard, how can they say that?... When you take a look at those 20 beautiful babies and what happened to them? And those six teachers and administrators?"

You may as well be fucking their corpses through the bullet holes, Joe.

If the AR-15 is a "weapon of war"---then why do the cops all have them? Who are they at war with? Why is it called an "assault weapon" if I want one, but a "patrol rifle" when a cop wants one?

Who are they at war with?

The criminals who are only held back by the incorruptible and not at all powertripping thin blue line. You aren't on the side of the criminals, are you, law abiding citizen?

Why is it called an "assault weapon" if I want one, but a "patrol rifle" when a cop wants one?

I'm sure the strict standards for admission and top notch training doled out by today's police academies magically transform it from a weapon of war (you know, in evil non-cop hands) to a weapon of justice. Stop hating justice.

Hey, if the government can force you to do shit for healthcare, why not an employer?

“Rising health care costs are killing the economy, and businesses are terrified,” Peel added. “Now, we’re all in this terrible situation where employers are desperate to get rid of workers who have costly health conditions, like obesity and diabetes.”
...
The company has dubbed the request “a health screening and wellness review so that colleagues know their key health metrics in order to take action to improve their numbers, if necessary.”

That bold part is mine because it probably translates into "force them to quit or lay them off." It will become less profitable to work than it is already, unless you follow the "health guidelines" laid out by your employer. This shit is voluntary in the same way that "40 pieces of flair" is voluntary at the chain restaurant from Office Space.

I assume they'll be requesting DNA samples from you and your spouse before you start having children. Can't have any chromosome deficiencies draining the corporate insurance money pool.

IRS totally not wasting its cash on stupid training videos.
The video was made for a 2010 conference training IRS agents on finding tax evaders. Also produced for the conference was a skit parodying "Gilligan's Island." Both cost around $60,000 to produce.

So, each hammer used to nail the set pieces together cost, what, $500?

Given waivers for environmental laws. California -- the green state, unless we need to get shit done, then to hell with it.

http://www.usnews.com/opinion....-budget
...the reason the Democrats avoided a budget for four years is that when Americans see their spending priorities, it makes the politics tougher for vulnerable Democrats.

Heh.

...they (the U.S. voters) do not want their Medicare or Social Security benefits touched. Despite the fact that mandatory spending is eating away at a larger and larger percent of the federal budget...

I'm almost praying for the next major crisis to hit so both those bloated systems crumble under their own bureaucracy.

We will not enforce laws we don't like. Granted, this particular law is pretty fucking stupid, but still.
Under questioning, Principal Deputy Solicitor General Sri Srinivasan said he couldn't give the court an "algorithm" on when the Justice Department would decide not to defend a law.

Wtf?

Well, to play Devil's Advocate (phrasing!), here's my take on that:
1. It's a pretty common principle already
2. Done wrong, it's anarcho-tyranny
3. Done right, it's checks and balances

On the whole...meh. Imagine if they TRIED to prosecute every violation of every federal law.

If the laws on the books aren't enforced, what's the point of putting them there in the first place?
"we refuse to control real criminals (that's the anarchy) so we control the innocent (that's the tyranny)."

Heh. Describes the U.S. legal system damn near perfectly.

Or, as The Mad Russian put it:
Did you really think we want those laws observed? said Dr. Ferris. We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with. ('Atlas Shrugged' 1957)
