It kind of has to be. Consider:
1) Only in the most recent of times has abstinence been pushed on Christians. Abstinent religions tend to die out due to lack of replacement people when the old eventually die. Most denominations let priests marry and have families. There is little tradition to support such extreme behaviour, and religion is nothing but bowing down before tradition. Anyone hardcore insane enough to follow through with this is obviously not Catholic, and they're the only major Christian branch that nixes sex at such a low level. You may notice "within marriage" isn't part of that idea, in any case. If you strike them off the list of suspects, then there's no branch left with such a hard-on for celibacy among the laypeople.
2) No straight male, anywhere, anyway, EVER, would go through with the dating and marriage and post-marriage before at least making an attempt to fuck. I can only imagine a dude that wants nothing to do with his woman sexually, like he was getting his green card and married the ugliest, meanest bitch he could find or something. Or perhaps a gay dude entering a marriage of convenience, like Rock Hudson. In either case, the dude would not want attention or scrutiny called to his situation and there would be no article.
