Just when we score 10k+ RP for skins and stuff, you want to quit. . . .

The thing with LoL for me is that I know I haven't hit my full potential yet. I keep getting better, so it drives me to keep playing. No, I never planned on making a living off of it. Never even figured I'd be on a small tournament winning team. And I guess it's impossible to be on a team that just always wins because you will get matched with better and better teams. So, it's kind of a no win situation. There will always be teams that are better than us.

My only problem with moving on to another game is. . . I don't think we will. There have been multi games out since TA. How many did we play? Diablo 2 anyone?!? Baulder's Gate. Only two of us played UO. SupCom. SupCom 2. etc, etc, etc. Borderlands 2 was the first game EVER that we finished as a group. Before UO, Leisher and I played Diablo. Got SOOOO close to the end and he bailed on me for UO. Had to finish it by myself. LoL was the first game we all liked to play, and DID play together.

I'm open for other stuff by all means. But I think if we stop playing LoL, we will stop multi'ing games.

Top Lane Gaming is holding a League of Legends tournament. 3000 prize pot, looks pretty cool. 40 bucks gets your team registered, and the games are played on the 27th 28th and 29th of December.

Not what I said exactly, but yeah that RP was in my head. I still have 4K in my account.

Understand that I love LoL. I really do. It's awesome. I'm just getting annoyed that I'm missing out on so much more. I don't want GTAV still sitting on my desk unplayed a year from now. Ditto for Skyrim. I'm going to spend at least $100 on games via Steam over the next week, and I'd like to actually try my purchases.

I don't want to log on nightly and feel like I have to play a specific game. There were a lot of nights in LoL over the past year that I was relived when nobody could get on. I felt like I actually had control over my night.

As you know, I have been feeling "wasted" on our team for quite some time. So I get that. And again, this has NOTHING to do with LoL. This is not a negative statement against it. I'm just saying that while I love the game I can't keep playing it forever exclusively. I just can't do it. It's been three years! I'm not saying I won't want to play LoL again, but I want to play other games! So do other people!

My only problem with moving on to another game is. . . I don't think we will. There have been multi games out since TA. How many did we play? Diablo 2 anyone?!? Baulder's Gate. This is absolutely a fair concern. I agree with you, and I'm a bit worried about it too. However, it worked pretty fucking well for LoL. It worked well for BL2, "the only game we've ever finished". (BTW, three years straight of a game is finishing it, on top of finishing it, on top of finishing it...)

We also played a ton of Duke Nukem. A ton of whatever versions of Red Alert we could. Total Annihilation. And yes, even UO. You can try and pretend that I didn't introduce you to the game, and I was around for a long time before you took over the guild, but that all happened. I loved UO, but it got tiring to play because of three things:
1. At the time I was working 13 out of every 14 days. That was for 2 and a half years.
2. It became "mandatory gaming" instead of fun gaming. What worries me is, for me, that's where LoL was heading.
3. I'm not as wrapped up in PvP as you are. I'm more so than before, but it's still not what defines a game for me as it does for you.

And not for nothing, but several of us play a lot of offline games too. :D You might not think that counts, but sure it does. Been doing poker, fantasy football, and golf leagues for over a decade, and they're doing just fine.

Point being, if we put the effort into it, we'll play. Also, the vast majority of the games on the list are non-story games. Thus, it's not appointment gaming. It's not mandatory for everyone to be there. We only have three for Payday? So what?

Two people can play BL2 and have fun. Ditto for most of the games on the list.

In fact, I envision our TS server has having multiple channels for different games, and folks can hop into the ones they're interested in instead of the whole thing being a single channel for a single game.

But I think if we stop playing LoL, we will stop multi'ing games.

Really think about that statement, about the discussion currently going on, and the response it has received.

We never even made it out of Bronze. No. We did not finish LoL.

I remember you being in UO, but I don't remember playing with you. I can name, from day one, almost all of the adventures Gordon and I had. From "pushing the stick" at the mountain, to him turning grey and being attacked all the time, to Kronos and Za taking us under their wings and teaching us how to PVP. With you, I remember logging in, making it to the forge area, getting chased by a lich and you telling me to run into a small house where the lich trapped and killed me. I think I remember hitting some dungeons with you. But that's about it. Yes, you introduced us to the game. Introduced us to Eldar (Za, Kronos, et). Gave us a home, guild, in game friends. But I honestly don't remember playing with you! By the time we had enough skill to actually do stuff, you were pretty much done with the game.

Agreed, we played a TON of game pre-UO as well. Most of them were due to you as well. You knew the games to play, and we played them. However, from UO forward, Gordon and I muti'ed game after game after game after game. For years. Decades? Getting there. . . We ALWAYS had games we were playing. I would venture to say that there hasn't been a time span >30 days, since 1996 that Gordon and I didn't mutli something.

You were the offline gaming king. Undisputed reigning champion of the world. You could total up all the games that all of us have played, and we still wouldn't come close to the number of games you've played. I know that. That was the 10 year span where you were 99% MIA from gaming!

You can look back through the history of the gaming threads here and there would be dozens and dozens of threads dedicated to one multi game or another, that never launched. We've tried this before. It fails. When left up to "When it happens, it happens", it doesn't happen.

And yes, I saw multiple channels as well. TPR racing with his friends. Me TL2 with my family. Gordon masturbating to pron. You alone in your single player game room. :-) But ya, a 'hub' for multi gaming.

If we don't play LoL, or schedule a storyline game commitment. . . our multi gaming dies here. That's my prediction.

Again, I hope I'm proven wrong.

That's what kills games for me. Which works directly at cross purposes with getting truly competitive in a team-based PvP environment. Even if every member is a natural savant at the game itself, the teamwork ends up being at least as important. Getting four to five grown-ass adults together with lives, wives, jobs, friends, families, kids, whatever, for long stretches of time with regular frequency is not a trivial thing. The more people you go up against, the more time you have to drop. Like I said, that's assuming you've mastered the rules of the game. BL2 worked because we weren't forced to practice to play the game, we just played.

I think winning Worlds would be finishing LoL, and I don't think that's going to happen.

Yeah, I had a big head start on you guys. I actually did more PvP stuff with the original crew and then you guys took over when my real life started interfering with my gaming time. I don't regret having offline stuff going on, obviously, but I do wish our time in game has meshed together more.

Agreed, we played a TON of game pre-UO as well. Most of them were due to you as well. You knew the games to play, and we played them. Again, in that time frame, I was doing the relationship thing, which pulled me away from having time for multi gaming. However, I'm where you guys were and have more time now. Plus, I'm more into PvP than I was then.

You were the offline gaming king. Undisputed reigning champion of the world. You could total up all the games that all of us have played, and we still wouldn't come close to the number of games you've played. I know that. That was the 10 year span where you were 99% MIA from gaming!

True story. I'll never lose my love for being able to hop on and off at will. Pause games to watch something on TV. Skip gaming to spend time with the wife and kids. Etc.

If we don't play LoL, or schedule a storyline game commitment. . . our multi gaming dies here. That's my prediction.

Again, I hope I'm proven wrong.

But...I'm in a different place now. I'm on more of a schedule. We've got more folks around now. You, me, and Gordo were always the steady Eddies, but throw Stranger into that now too. Yeah, he's not on nightly, but he's there enough, and is much better than Lou Bruce. Malcolm, Catt, and TPR are already playing the types of games I've listed out. Troy is still gaming. Trooper is obviously available. Rifle would probably be up for playing some different stuff. Hell, even Gordo's kid will eventually be an option.

Don't look at this in a negative, "well if we quit LoL, that's it" sort of way. Look at it like, "Ok, the group's interest in LoL seems to be dying, but here 's a lot of interest in keeping our multi going in new games."

I can't speak for Gordo, but I know Stranger and I discussed it a bit today, and we're both very geeked about trying some new stuff out. I really want to try out some of these smaller games like Monaco and Awesomenauts. I've always been wanting to get a group into L4D just to do the acheivements. Payday gets good reviews, and seems to be cops and robbers for PC gamers. And despite me getting my ass kicked by you guys in TA multi, I look forward to that again. I miss those epic, several hours long games.

So stop being negative Nancy, and let's see about a TS server, and get going.

Indeed.

I'm certainly interested. If it's ever been 75% or more off on Steam (and isn't a realistic shooter, those make me motion sick) I probably own it so count me in. L4D2 versus can be a very good choice for eight players, the rest of the games mentioned I have no real comment on, but most of them I'd join you in at least to try it.

Most fun I ever had doing competitive FPS was Halo 2 with seven other folk in the same house. Four upstairs in one room, four downstairs in another.

Goddam, finally broke my 6 game ARAM losing streak, as Poppy. Didn't get my "first win of the day" bonus at all, yesterday. Game 3 in that streak I thought I was in good shape as Janna, and we were crushing them and I had a very positive score, then I lost connection when we still had 3 turrets and a nexus left. When I restarted the game I got there just in time to watch our nexus blow up.

I guess I was the only one who dropped.

Ha. My first and only penta ever was Teemo in ARAM. After that it was hard finishing the game with this huge, throbbing erection getting in the way.

Next time don't invite Cake over while you game.

All night just trying to get my "1st win of he day" bonus and all night I get teams with Yis that go 3/15 and Kha'Zixes who go 4/12.

Had an Evelyn go 3/43 earlier. Claimed he wasn't feeding.

I wish these guys were on the other team now and then.

Peeps seem to be missing the game, but seem hesitant to come back.

What if we only made "LOL Night" one night a week for sure and then any other night peeps are on and they feel like it....

But this is the wrinkle I am most interested in...

We don't have assigned roles. Every game we all switch every single game, in a pattern. Basically, Game 1 you play top. Game 2 mid. Game 3 jungle, game 4 ADC, game 5 support. Then game 6 you go back top.

I got so sick of full time top when we were playing, I really wanted to do something different, but everyone had an assigned role. I think if we are forced to change every game it will make it fresh again, keep us out of the rut, AND we will play the game better overall as we learn each position. I have been playing a shitload of ARAM lately and it seems like my best games are when I am playing one of my non-traditional champions. I have gone clean with high kills and no deaths with Janna, Caitlin, Veigar, and Lux. Have gotten a penta with Teemo. I do really well when playing ranged ADC like Twitch and MF when I don't try to be fancy with them, and just play ADC. I generally do well with Moaki and Veigar. It is fun changing up every time.

Just a thought.
