Well over 100 million guns have been sold in the United States since Barack Obama was elected president, including almost 20 million last year alone.
There are over 357 million privately owned guns in the United States.
This year, of the 23,158 people who have been shot, only 711 — just barely three percent — were in self defense.
There were 1,043 people shot by accident.
For every person shot in self defense, there were two minors shot (1,520).

It means people in general are getting stupider and can't be trusted with simple tasks like, "Keep guns away from those who don't know how to use them properly, including me." You can happily sell idiots like that weapons under certain circumstances if you're greedy enough.

Cars, booze, and ciggies kill more people. Fuck off until you talk about regulating 1.5-ton, gasoline powered killing machines as harshly as you do firearms.

The NRA has spent well over $50 million to see that nothing changes since — literally  —  a classroom full of children were murdered.

Because one dude in an entire building had a gun and that put him at the top of the food chain.

The real solution here lies with us. The sane, rational, thinking voters. The NRA can buy your congressman, but they cannot buy your vote.

What is their stance on two things?

Closing the loophole that allows felons to buy guns without a background check if they’re purchased privately.
Limit the type of guns that can be sold. There is no good reason you need to be able to shoot 180 people in a minute.
This election, make yourself a one-issue voter if you have to. Refuse to vote for anyone in the pocket of the NRA. Change in gun laws won’t come until the change in the Congress. And that change won’t come until we force it.

Emphasis mine. Also, unless you have a 180-round mag, you can't fire 180 rounds in a minute. You sure as shit can't fire off 3 rounds per second and hope to maintain accuracy for 60 seconds straight unless you're literally shooting at the broad side of a goddamn barn or something else big and stationary.

Haven't gone through the numbers to check, but assuming that the leftist authoritarian state HuffPo is using the usual crap numbers, the total number shot will include suicides, the "people shot by accident" will include bystanders in gang drive-bys, and the minors shot will also include underage gang members.

The 711 self defense shootings don't tell the whole story either. One government report (commissioned under Obama) showed up to 3.3 million defensive gun uses per year. Often simply brandishing the weapon or firing a warning shot is enough to deter a would-be criminal.

People that believe the Huffington Post in dealing with gun stats also believe John Holmes when he said he had degrees in Physical therapy and political science.
