Doctors overworked and causing 100K deaths annually. I'm sure the new health care plan will take care of this ... somehow.

Except in this case, 52% of the people in this country actually, honestly, whole-heartedly believe it to be true.

Seriously, we need to burn all this shit down. Too many people are actually seeing the emperor's new clothes.

Funny that I almost read it as "GOP just shrunk, but that's a GOOD thing." I thought that finally did the mass forced exiles I was suggesting.

C'mon people, without that defense spending issue, the economy would have grown AT LEAST like 1.0% annualized, which is about 0.25% quarterly... which is almost nothing.

"Violence is a big problem, too many children are dying, too many children. We must do something..."

From here. Note that "something" != "anything" and that this is blatant pandering.

The only non-negative pachyderm blurb...
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, decried violent video games and rejected the argument that they do not contribute to real-world gun violence.

"Out, out you demons of stupidity!"

James Johnson, chief of Baltimore County (Md.) Police Department, testified that law enforcement leaders back Obama's approach to reducing gun violence. "I'm here today to tell you we are long overdue in strengthening our nation's gun laws," he said. He called for background checks and said law enforcement groups support the assault weapons ban proposed Feinstein.

To serve and protect ... the government from the citizens. Cops are not your friends.

When you hit chief, you're not a cop, you're a politician. Many communities' police chiefs have never been cops.

Fine. The cops that listen to their chiefs who aren't qualified to be cops are also part of the problem.

"Unless the magazine holds more than ten rounds, in which case you've become an immediate threat to society, then we'll have to kick in your door with guns blazing." Dude's right, though, calling 911 isn't a viable option to stop most crimes. I don't see anything in there which goes against the batshit insane rhetoric the anti-gun lobby is drumming up, though.

I've never understood the hide and pray sort of response training. It's not that that sort of thing "no longer works" it's that it never really did and people are starting to realize how it's not the best of ideas.

But more importantly, what happened to heroism? What happened to "I may be nearly guaranteed to die doing this, but maybe I can stop this guy from shooting anyone else"? Exactly when did we give up on trying to save people and turn that over to government employees?

Whatever happened to crazy? Why does every negative event need to be explained or have a scapegoat?

People don't like being reminded they fucked up. They want to put the blame on inanimate objects or processes.
