If you are an engie and you build stuff, then yous witch classes, your stuff explodes. I'm almost sure of it. Otherwise 12 people would start a map as engies, build turrets, then leave 1 or 2 engies to maintain it all.

Oh, I'll heal a friend over the top scorer. Cause, I like playing with my friends more. You just happened to be top scorer at that moment. Even when you were low on the board, I'd still hunt you out. I wouldn't spend alot of time with you if you were the sniper though. Healing a sniper is boring. Friend or not.
I wasn't going to turn it into a thing, but then you were bragging about "out scoring" me, or whatever. I was kicking ass as a sniper for some of those maps.

But I also know that is only possible if I have a good team that can keep people off of the snipers. That means good players, teamwork, AND good comms.

A good sniper will keep one or two people always waiting to respawn, which makes their entire team 10-20% less effective, depending on the server population.

Lastly, I ALMOST took a picture of Gordon after he sniped me last night. It was a good kill, and the pic would have had him with his fist in the air cheering for himself. It was kind of funny and Gordon would have liked it. But then I thought "Fuck him. He just shot me." And didn't. Now I feel bad. Cause it was a good pic.

One achievement that I thought I'd never get was OMGWTFBBQ which specifies that you must kill an enemy with a taunt. Prior to last weekend, I told Gordo that I was going to get it this weekend and him or Sprat (a guy who frequently plays sniper on the FNF server). All weekend I was looking for the opportunity.

My closest attempt came on Sprat Saturday night. As my guy was going through the animation (for those who don't know the pyro's instakill taunt it looks like Ryu shooting fireballs in Street Fighter, only it takes more time), I got headshot by sniper.

So late Sunday night, I was excited to find myself standing next to a zoomed in sniper. I started my taunt and right before the flames shot out, a spy ran up and backstabbed the sniper, stealing my kill. So I ran around and burned some more folks before dying. After spawning, I went back to the same area where the sniper had been before and to my great surprise, there was another sniper there. I walked up to him, switched to shotgun, and started my taunt.

This time lady luck smiled on me and the taunt flew from my fingertips destroying the sniper in one shot. It would've looked like this.

Lo and behold, that sniper was Gordo. The second it happened, one of the guys on my team game me a "Nice Leisher" while chuckling and then Gordon texts me a "I'm so happy for you." Well, that got under my skin because a Gordo with it's feelings hurt makes you feel like you just kicked a puppy.

So while I was happy to have finally received that achievement, which puts me 6 away from closing out the pyro achievements, I felt bad that it was on Gordo.

I tried to make amends later when I was able to replicate the taunt kill on a guy Gordo suspected to be cheating, but I don't think it made Gordo feel any better.

Then, in mid game last night, my pyro's head was removed from his shoulders. The screen quickly flashed to my killer, Gordon, and it looked exactly like this.

That shit made me laugh.

Oh, I am also learning that when I encounter one of these "amazingly" good snipers that seem to shoot around corners, I shouldn't be stubborn and keep trying to beat him. I should just change classes and get at him another way, instead of staying a sniper and spend all of my time waiting to respawn.

Whoa whoa whoa.

I was amused that you finally got the achievement on ME of all people, after so much talking about it to me, and I was just fucking with you.

And last night....... I was making it a point to "taunt" as I delivered headshots on you guys, hoping someone would get a screenshot for me... but looks like no one did.

I wasn't making it a thing. I was just saying that if the friend is a sniper, or engineer for that matter, I wouldn't spend alot of time healing them. That's a waste of a medic/uber. I think we'd all agree on that. So, the friend being a sniper/engi would trump my 'I like to heal friends over anyone else' thing. I keep them healthy, but I'd attach myself to the tanks/damage dealers. Like the heavy and the pyros. So, I didn't heal you cause you were top scorer. I was healing you cause you were you. And lets face it. . . you need it. :-)

I hate it when we are on opposite teams. We need to make it a point to always be on the same team. Unless we are the only ones on the server, playing against friends when there are plenty of strangers to gang up on sucks.

For the record, I always attempt to join red team on each map, even if I have to stay on the 'team selection' screen for a bit clicking fast on the red door. USUALLY that works.... sometimes I end up on blue, anyway.

Go red.

It helps that I am usually the first player to get to that screen. I think it is my RAID 0 hard drive config. I'm ALWAYS the 1st or 2nd player to hit that screen.

Red, got it. I've been just going random so far, since I've seen people I know on both teams. But from now on I'll try for Red first. And try to switch if I get stuck on Blue.

Except every now and then I have to try and headshot Gordon. Just because.

You'll get auto switched for team balance stuff here and there. That's when you unleash on the Gordon.

I think the auto-switching only affects the least-scoring player on the team, at the time.

Happened to me once as an engineer. I joined a server, built all my stuff in the enemy sewer on 2-Fort, then got auto-switched. Ticked me off.

One of my fun moments from last night was:

I was healing someone. A pyro or something. We were behind enemy lines. He died, but I did not as I had been behind cover. Well, they forgot about me cause they didn't come get me. So, I'm trying to figure out what to do. Either way I went from behind my cover, there were enemies. But I'd keep ducking back before they saw me. Did this a few times and figured I'm doing no good where I was. So, I went around the side that had a heavy that was standing on a ledge shooting down on my team. I went up behind him with my saw. I cut him twice, and he was just standing there. He wasn't even turning to get me. It's like he couldn't figure out where the damage was coming from. I keep hitting him and bouncing around him thinking he's going to turn. But he never does. He's intent on killing people down below. So then I just stand behind him sawing away. He finally dies. But damn it! There was an assist to my kill. I was hoping that I was going to get a solo heavy kill with my saw. Oh well. I went down shortly after that as I was exposed with lots of enemies around. It was just funny to be able to sneak up behind someone and saw away for so long.

I disagree. It seems to me that it moves a midrange player. I've seen the server (or maybe it was an admin) swap a midrange player with the lowest scoring player on the losign team to try to balance things. Any time I've been switched, I was in the middle of the board.

If an admin does it, it isn't auto-switching.... though I could see that it could be possible to have 2 kinds of auto-switching, not to just balance team numbers but to balance scorers... but.... that would take a level of programming that I doubt they bothered with.

Can't a guy just tell a story? The shit was funny, leave it at that.

I was just saying that if the friend is a sniper, or engineer for that matter, I wouldn't spend alot of time healing them. That's a waste of a medic/uber. I think we'd all agree on that.

I don't.

Yes, pyros, heavies, demos, and soldiers should get the majority of the heals as they're front line folks. Hell, even other medics and spies should get more heals. However, I can think of situations where healing a sniper or engie is a good thing:
-After death, instead of running forward, why not stop and heal a medic or engie for a minute while you wait for an offensive class to come out of spawn?
-Any sniper or engie under fire could use the support, particularly if an engie is tanking his SG and his dispenser is elsewhere for offensive folks to use.

Just a few examples, but legit. I leave out the common ones like capturing a point or being on the cart.

As for teams, I don't mind playing against you guys. Yes, it's fun to team up with you too, but mainly I like to just hit the random door and see where I end up. We've been on the FNF server so much that I know most of the regulars and their playstyle. If fact, in that final round I played with you Cake, you were the big unknown to me as the medic. I've known you the longest, but I don't know how you play TF2 yet. Still, I promise I'll make an effort to be on the red team more often.

I disagree with both of you...although more so with Gordo's assessment. I think it has do to with when you die. I've heard folks in game see the teams out of balance and say, prior to setup ending, "you go first, I don't want to get autoswitched".

I wonder if there's some rule to it? Maybe something like "Most recent death, but cannot be in the top 3 scorers on team..."?

The other night on 2-Fort there was a sniper on their battlements, and I could see the blue 'healer line' or whatever it was called, meaning he was overhealed with a medic hidden around the corner. I had a hard time killing that guy. Kind of a waste of a healer's uber, I think, but it still made that sniper 50% harder to kill. Better to put the uber on a heavy that might take out 5 guys than on a sniper that might take out 1 or 2 in 10 seconds, and got shot at once or twice in the same time period.

And whenever I have been auto switched I was ALWAYS the lowest scorer. I can't have any other opinion as I have never witnessed otherwise.

Yeah, that's not a map the medic should spend a lot of time on the sniper.

Although, I'm confused, did he actually use an uber on him? Why? Are you sure it wasn't a joke? I saw a youtube video of a guy being a jackass in game as much as possible and one of the things he'd do is play a medic so he could heal and uber snipers. He thinks he's hilarious.

And whenever I have been auto switched I was ALWAYS the lowest scorer.

I'm going to find out.

Never saw an uber on the sniper, just the fact he was overhealed... and could heal quickly from minor damage (whereas I run back to the supply room to heal up when I take damage), made him formidable.
