Season 5 seems to really be the weepy, crying Buffy season.
Ugh.

It's a bit like that on and off for the rest of the series. But there's still a lot of good stuff there to be for watching.

So we finished Season 5 last night, and the last shot was of a certain character's grave.
I already own the following seasons on DVD, and this character is on the box art, so I know it isn't permanent... but what I want to know is what this was like when the show actually aired, and had no hint as to the future. Were people freaking?

But this little exchange WAS pretty damned cool...
Ben lying there, beaten and bloodied, Giles kneeling next to him:
Giles: Even when she had you beaten, she couldn't take a human life. Even though you will regroup and return and kill everyone she loves.
Ben: Yes... Buffy is a good person.
Giles: Yes. She isn't like us.
Ben: Wait, what? *choke*

Rumours are they're making a new Buffy flick, w\ Wheedon not involved.
While I applaud shutting out that fucko, I'm not holding out high expectations.

Why without Wheedon?

He's already got umpteen zillion things he's involved in, so sayeth the one article I perused.

I can't believe he'd be willing to hand over his franchise without so much as a guarantee that he gets final script approval.

Buffy is running in comic form and does rather well. I cannot imagine that he approves all those scripts as well as everything else he has going on.
Maybe he authorized a Buffy movie, but he gets final script approval?
P.S. Finally watched the first two episodes. Not bad. I like that they killed someone off immediately. Angel is ruined for me because I know him. And Allison Hannigan is on my list. She just looks like she'd be a naughty fuck.

You don't know Angel yet, trust me.
And I'd say that S1 is good, but it is the weakest season they made. It just gets better.
And Willow.... mmmm, Willow. You don't know her yet, either.

Know what would be neat? A re-cut of the entire series... chronologically. Open with the primal slayer... cuts of the Master and Darla in the new world... Angel and crew wreaking havoc old europe, leading up the the rise of Buffy, and wherever she is going. That would be neat. I think there was a cut of The Godfather that was like that.

Season 1, Episode 4.
The She-Mantis made the same sound as a fizzled spell in UO.

I remember that. That must be a public domain sound effect, because I hear it here and there.
It is also in the movie "Practical MAgic." If that's the one with Sandra Bullock and Tom Cruises ex-beard.

Isn't it a crocodile sound?

Yes, but I wasn't going to say it.

My favorite episode!
Not only was it excellently done, it also had some key story arc advancements.

I may watch that one again.
Lots of similarities in the tunes between that episode and Dr. Horrible. Can definitely recognize Whedon's song style, at this point.

Was that the vampire from Twilight?
