So Barry gave his speech last night talking about how his plan to fight ISIS is working, and the true evil in this world is Republicans.

Let's ignore that his plan seems to be "Do as little as possible to make it look like he's doing something". I did agree with his "peeps on the no fly list shouldn't be allowed to buy guns" argument.

Anyway, someone on FB today posted something about how when the Paris attacks happened, the world united against ISIS and terrorism. Meanwhile, here in the U.S. with the San Bernardino attack, we're simply being told that it's the guns' fault.

The problem with the no fly list is it's 99%+ bullshit. I'm on the list because somewhere out there is a terrorist named Jim Jones with no other identifying information, so all people named Jim or James Jones are on the no fly list. You get put on the list for the most absurd reasons and there is no review and no way off without spending a few thousand dollars on lawyers. There is no due process anywhere near it.

I was sort of going to vote for Barry, but not anymore. Not if this is an example of what he thinks a good idea is.

That is problematic. I had assumed getting onto the list required an actual reason, and getting off of it could be accomplished. Granted there would be government red tape, but it could be accomplished.

I've heard it generally takes about thee to six grand in lawyer time. And once you are taken off the list you can be put back on again at any time for any reason. So if any other J. Jones steps out of line I'd be right back on it again and have to go through it all again.

Like I said, 99%+ bullshit.

No. It's much like the black list for potential FBI, NSA, etc. candidates. I knew a few dudes in college that were permanently on there, each for idiotic reasons. None of them gave a fuck about working for the <s>mafia</s> feds, so they never contested it. If it's done by the gov't, it's probably done illegally, incompetently, exorbitantly, or some combo thereof.

So what do you do when you want to fly somewhere?

Probably for the best. I'd avoid that shit if it were practical.

Remember when Obama bragged about signing a deal with Iran to curb their rush towards nukes? Remember how the Republicans in this country were blasted by the MSM and the left because they were against the deal? Remember how their opposition was based on the fact that they believed Iran wouldn't honor the deal and everyone said the Republicans were just assholes?

Iran has been testing ballistic missles in violation of two resolutions.

I remember Jack Black from tenacious D was in some video talking about how republicans wanted nuclear war because of their opposition to the iran deal.

I mention that on facebook every time one of their posts makes it to my front page. "Yeah that's cool about your festival dates, but what is Jack's opinion on the Iranian nuclear treaty?"

I applaud you for not utilizing the airlines who hate their customers and the TSA who... exist....

But seriously, there is no recourse for 100k people if "John Smith" gets put on a No Fly List, unless they pony up a few grand?

General court-martial is the highest level of trial in the military justice system. If convicted, Bergdahl could face anywhere from life in prison to no confinement.

In any case, it's 2015. We're at war in Afghanistan, war in Iraq, helped destabilize Libya and Syria, have seen the deadliest terror attack on U.S. soil since 9/11, have no ability to vet visitors and entrants to the country or otherwise protect our borders, and have no coherent strategy for dealing with ISIS. We have a president who actually claims that climate deals are a good way to fight ISIS, and a press that treats this as a reasonable claim to make.

Must be nice to be a Democratic president.

Lame duck is lame.
Facing the reality that lawmakers are unlikely to strengthen the country’s gun laws anytime soon, the administration has been looking at ways Mr. Obama can tighten gun sales unilaterally, focusing in particular on who could be considered a high-volume dealer for an executive action that could expand background checks.
