One of the comments under that:
My dad used to work with an ex-NFL quarterback, and he said many of the players didn’t know the playbook at all. Especially the receivers. They had no interest in learning it. He would call plays all the time and they had no clue what route to run.
I believe it.

The full Mike Tomlin experience on display in Cleveland right now.

Something to watch:
Rumors that Baltimore is sick of Lamar.

Huntley played pretty damn well the past few weeks. Way out played Lamar.

I've heard Miami and...I forget the other team...could make an offer. Might be wise for Baltimore to cut that salary and get some picks.

The Bengals just ran a play where #61 lined up as a wide out and they threw it to him! He gained about 5-6 yards and the line celebrated like he won the game.

OOOOF. Otoh, one more win by the Browns and the Commanders move up a draft pick!

Go Giants, Jets, Titans, Cards, and Browns!

Would a 9-8 no playoff year get Tomlin fired? Guess we might find out in a week.

Literally nothing would get Tomlin fired. Rooney is a spineless coward.

If the Steelers lose this game or win and get blown out in the playoffs, the "Fire Tomlin" chants at the draft will be fun.

The most Mike Tomlin stat of them all: BTW, congrats to the Cleveland Browns who now hold the record for most wins without scoring 14 points. (6)

Those records are too bad too early to be "resting starters" time of year, too. Big ooof.

I genuinely think the Ravens will win, and Vegas agrees, as they're a 3 point favorite.

I have so much more to say on this, but I'm still collecting my thoughts. I will say that I'll believe it when I see it.

It's almost like the Steelers were more concerned with not letting Myles get the sack record against them vs winning the game.

Yeah, I saw Miles' comments, and I don't know how much credence I put into it. Not the first time he's lied to make himself look good... :D

Saying the Steelers planned to not let Garrett get the record implies several things that simply aren't true: Rodgers holds the ball (2.67 seconds, the fastest in the league. Anyone watching this year knows the old man does not want to get hit.), the coaches know how to game plan (hahahahaha), Miles is guaranteed a sack every game, the O line is capable, etc.

However, you could be right. Tomlin got to his 9 wins, which as Tomlin's defenders know, that's the most important stat in all of sports.

BTW, that assist they gave Garrett against Allen, which should have been a safety, was a stretch at best. Garrett never came close to touching Allen on that play. Finding out that the half sacks are judgement calls by a person watching, and there's no real criteria for it, kinda sucked. And I'm not dismissing Garrett here, dude's awesome, I just don't like how they count sack assists.

Steelers throwing the ball at Denzel Ward 3 times in a row to end the game probably wasn't the best choice of calls either.

I think the Ravens will roll the Steelers, but the Ravens aren't going anywhere either.

But at least the throws were all awful!

Completely agree. Hell, as I said before, I think Huntley is playing well enough that the Ravens need to consider trading Lamar.

Honestly, was a dumb win for the Browns. They went from 2nd pick in the draft to 6th. If they had eyes on either of the QB's they just screwed themselves. Which i might be ok with.

Factual. By every metric this season has been a shitshow for gamblers.

If you're still not sold on how much Tomlin sucks, and why the "never had a losing season" horseshit doesn't matter, look at it from this angle: 18 seasons completed and only 4 of those with playoff wins.

He won an AFC Championship and a SB with a roster handed down to him and with a coaching staff hired by the previous coach. Tomlin is a great speaker, although even that is really only true in small doses as the more he talks, the more it's obvious he's full of shit. It worked those first few years, but then coaches started to leave.

Since then, he's been hiring all the staff, and every person that speaks on the subject says that he is the final word on the roster and on the defensive scheme.

A defensive scheme that was out of date 15 years ago. One that routinely gets mocked on podcasts and shows by NFLers.

A roster of has beens and never will bes. A roster you'd build if you just woke up from a 10 year coma.

Has there ever been a HC with this much experience who has NEVER had an assistant be hired away?

Oh, and that last playoff win back in 2016 was with a HOF QB in his prime, AB in his prime, Bell in his prime, a future HOF LB had he not broken his neck (Shazier), Deebo in his prime, and Heyward in his prime, to name a few. The QBs they beat were Matt Moore and Alex Smith.

The guy is the poster child for "promoted to your level of incompetence".
