Can you imagine the shitstorm if any of the guns the kid used could be traced back to that group of weapons? Not that it's even remotely a possibility, but something along those lines would be hilarious.

Someone will just argue, "Oh, the cartels would've gotten their firepower from somewhere else." I'd also like to add, as an aside, there are documented cases of inmates constructing fully functioning semiautomatic pistols in prison workshops using little else except scrap metal and plumbing parts.

What would have been funny is if some Fifth Element shit happened.

"Hey, what's this red button on the rifle for?"

from somewhere
I wonder how much the media and the liberal hatred of Republicans plays into the current Republican angst. It's almost as if Republicans are the new Jews of yesteryear where any vile dirty thing can be said about them with little blowback and less truth. The media blames Republicans for every ill that comes down the pike. A storm in the Northeast? Damn Republicans caused it. You aren't making the money you once did? A Republican did that to you. A violent young man kills 27? That Republican sitting next to you is somehow to blame. That's what the media wants people to believe and because people are eager for a scapegoat, many listen without critical thought.

I am always surprised at those people who consider themselves intelligent, well-meaning "empathetic" types who think nothing of tossing out some nasty crack about Republicans -whether at the holiday table, in the classroom or in line at the supermarket. It puts people on the opposite side of the political fence on the defense and makes for an antagonistic atmosphere, one that is growing more hostile by the day. I used to think that people should try to be "tolerant" and not get too upset by the jabs. I was wrong.
Here is my advice: rather than just take it and fill out a poll saying you are demoralized, fight back. Even if you feel uncomfortable, even if you might wreck the holiday party, and even if it means you might be open to hostility like you have never seen before, speak up. Or, if you don't want to talk politics, just say so and say that this type of talk makes you feel uncomfortable. If you are with friends or family and they don't understand this, how important can they be in your life? If your well-being is that unimportant to them, why bother? Perhaps next year, you need to spend the holidays in Barbados if you can or at least in the company of those who don't see your politics as evil.

I'm mainly blaming the Republicans for fucking up their PR image and allowing the party to get hijacked by the religious moral fundie psychos. If they couldn't win the previous election, the pachyderms are utterly fucked, and their best hope is jettisoning the members who are focusing on anything except economics. If they don't have the ability or balls to do that, then leave and start a new party. Otherwise, they've got nothing except the guarantee that they'll lose. I have no sympathy for them, not because they've proven themselves to be evil, but because they've proven themselves to be incompetent and unwilling to let go of their past. Let them worship at the altar of the memory of Ronald Reagan while their party crumbles to ash.

Anyone familiar with the NDAA?
The detention provisions of the Act have received critical attention by, among others, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, and some media sources which are concerned about the scope of the President's authority, including contentions that those whom they claim may be held indefinitely could include U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, including arrests by members of the Armed Forces.

Here's this year's version. It tries to limit some of the presidential powers. White House responds like a rabid squirrel guarding its nuts. Perhaps the most damning thing of all, here's a dude from a comedy website shredding the NDAA in general. Best line?
Obama is a liberal only in the sense that Green Day is punk.

I swear, one bright, BRIGHT side of him getting reelected will be to the enjoyment of the suffering of the people who believed all the bullshit about him, and are getting rude awakenings.

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfro....6

It already started with the 2% payroll tax increase, which hit everyone, including all those people making less than $250k per year that Obama SWORE would not see any increase in taxes. I've been telling peeps that there is NO WAY health insurance costs wont increase under Obamacare, but they tell me I will just "believe what I want to believe." My middle name needs to be changed from "Scott" to "Schadenfreude," because then my initials wont change and also I am going to be greatly enjoying the pain of their awakenings.

Also, WE FUCKING TOLD YOU SO. Dumbasses.

WAR ON WOMEN!

To be fair, Bush the greater pulled the same shit with taxes. But then pretty much everyone turned on him. Marion Barry got caught on camera smoking crack. Then he got reelected mayor of D.C. I'm not even going to speculate what it'd take to knock B-Rock off his pedestal.

I've been saying for years that Obama could kill and eat a baby on live TV, during primetime, and still have a 47% approval rating.

Fast food joints across the country cutting peoples' hours in order to avoid Obamacare requirement.

I mean, I am completely shocked. NO ONE saw this sort of thing... rising costs, cut employees.. coming. At all. Complete surprise, could not have been foreseen.

None of this is Obama's fault. It's all the greedy corporations.

But to determine whether employees work enough hours on average to receive benefits, businesses must track schedules at least three months in advance of 2014...

Check back in September.
