XKCD is funny, but I could do without some of the political lectures. On this topic: My brother-in-law is a finance professor at Northwester (State U of Louisiana). He's pretty bright though, and he pointed out that if being 3 sigma below the mean is mental retardation, then compared to him and me, half the population is retarded. It's a good point.
But the corollary to that is that him and me is retarded compared to those guys at 6 sigmas. But you don't meet too many of them.
