I got 3 Heavy achievements in the course of normal play, including 2 that seemed initially they would be hard to get: Take 1000 damage in a single life, and the "Rasputin" achievement when in a single life you are shot, stabbed, burned, exploded, and bludgeoned. The 3rd was, "Kill someone within 5 seconds of exiting a teleporter." Too bad there isn't a "1-second" achievement, because that what I did. Went through spun-up and there was someone right in front of me, damaged.
But I haven't done any "farming" yet.

I wanted to mention that one thing I've really started to notice lately and love about TF2 is the character responses to situations. They're not completely random, but there are so many that you don't see them a lot.
For example, I'll be playing a pyro and if one of my teammates gets in the way of my flamethrower and we're not under fire, my pyro starts cursing the player out. The key is that it's all muffled because of my mask (Think Kenny from South Park). The effect is still pretty funny.
Another one I saw last night that made me laugh was while I was a medic. I'm normally a pyro, so I've never seen this, but an injured pyro came running back to a point we were guarding. I saw he was low on health, so I stopped working on an uber with a heavy, and switched to heal the pyro. The pyro's head (not the whole body, which means the player wasn't doing this) turned to look at me as he was running by and he gave me a thumbs up. Hilarious.

A new update was apparently released to fix the crashes from Tuesday's release associated with Arena.
Speaking of Arena, it might get dropped from the FNF servers. People are complaining that they'd rather play than watch...

I quit the FNF server last night after a straight hour of Arena... I don't have a clue how they have the map rotation set up, because when we started repeating arena maps... after people were complaining it was time to move on... Arena is all right, but something about it bugs me.

I've noticed as the pyro that occasionally you'll get a 5 second window where you'll crit every time you touch someone with the flame thrower.
The developers actually comment on crits in the commentary and elsewhere that the better you're doing, the more of a chance you'll get for crits. It's a reward for good play and doesn't unbalance the game as it's still just as easy to kill the rewarded player.
Oh yeah, there is a program out there somewhere that basically gives you the ability to click off all the achievements that you want, and thus insta granting you all the weapons.
I guess that explains all the heavies who had Natashas an hour after the patch.
I doubt the program exists to be honest.
Such things can easily be achieved via "achievement servers". Basically, just find an empty server and bring a friend or two and rattle off the achievements together. I normally earn my achievements through normal play, but the dtamn server had a few peeps on doing their heavy achievement stuff Tuesday night so I jumped on with a heavy (a class I almost never play) and helped them. I grabbed two in the process, the "Heavy Industry" (I did on my own before I left the spawn room. Just stand next to the ammo dump locker and fire continuously.) and the "Kill an enemy with a taunt" which I didn't even know how to do. Those guys taught me, so I stuck around for a minute to help them get a couple and then went to a normal server.
The best part of the taunt thing is that I haven't earned mine yet with my pyro. I'm now debating between Gordo when he's playing sniper or this guy named Sprat who is a very good player on our regular server. He's usually a sniper and gives people fits. It'd be cool to get that kill on him.
Oh, another tip on the heavy, one of the achievements simply requires you to get backstabbed by a spy.

So the achievement server system is simply a shortcut, particularly for some of the more asinine ones. Everything for the medic comes to mind.
But someone took laziness a step farther, but suggesting a person not even bother going through the motions to get the achievement, but just click a button.

My understanding is that you need to run the program every time you launch Steam, and I guess it alters the data stream or whatever so that your client will unlock all of the weapons.
So from now on when you get a Backburner shoved up your ass, along with frustration you can also wonder if you just got killed by a cheater.
And it'll be great when they make the spy more powerful.
Speaking of which, since the last update I don't think I can hear footsteps, any more. I have 5.1 speakers, which means 2 are behind me as I play. When the spies are out I always spin and fire when I hear someone walk up behind me. Since the update, I can't hear the footsteps, and I am getting bushwhacked by spies again and again and I can't do a thing about it beyond stand with my back ina corner. IS this a on purpose, another bug, or another cheat? Also happened a few times on Granary when I was going up to the battlements, and 5 times in a row a pyro walked up silently behind me with the Backburner. Was getting sorta pissed. It would be one thing if I NEVER had tha ability to hear their footsteps, but I had it and now it is gone and that sucks.
So from now on when you get a Backburner shoved up your ass, along with frustration you can also wonder if you just got killed by a cheater.

That would also indicate that there's a way for Valve to stop it once they figure out how it works.

The pyro update has been out long enough that I pity a person who hasn't earned it. Hell, I've been playing for 3-4 weeks and not only have I earned all the pyro and one medic weapon, but I'm about 400000 away from Pyromancer.

Is the heavy really more powerful now? I don't think so. I think he just has a few more strategic options.
Ditto for the pyro. The flare gun isn't going to kill anyone (unless you're an awesome pyro...hehe), but it does annoy enemies and forces them to look for health. The backburner may give 100% crits, but only if you hit the person from behind and it lacks the airburst. Good pyro players don't need those extra crits to make kills and would much rather have the airburst.
My run of 13 kills as a pyro was done with the regular flamethrower, not the Backburner.
As for the footsteps, report it. They put out a patch pretty quickly for other items. Report it now and maybe it'll be in whatever other patches come down the pike.
