Before he left, I asked the priest to give me a map for down there, or at least a description. Single room? Catacombs?
You better snag him before he gets his morning drink on.

Came across this tidbit from the PHB regarding holy water.

A cleric or paladin may create 1 bottle of holy water by performing a special ritual. The ritual takes 1 hour to perform, uses [1 unit] worth of silver, and requires the caster to expend a 1st-level spell slot. (PHB, p. 152*)

The party currently has some Durst silverware.

One of the early adventure Zones has me cracking up today:
Taako: "I cleave him in half! I rolled a 19"
DM: "Ok, he's dead. A portion of his body falls one way and another portion another."
Magnus: "Wait, weren't we supposed to do this without killing anyone?"
Taako: "I was trying to not kill him."
DM: "You said 'I cleave him in half'!"
Taako: "I meant non-violently"

Just like when I said "I jump over the railing and down to the first floor." Because I wasn't more descriptive, DM assumed I went head first.

So i don't know how much is acceptable to talk about the game outside of the game, especially without Zelda to have some input on it but i do have a question for tonight?

I'm not sure how things are going to play out when we start tonight, but if it does come down to it are we really going to try and fight a vampire? I'm thinking that a vampire might kick all of our asses right now.

Now i don't think Troy would just lead all of us into a certain death situation, but i do recall way back on one of the first few pages of this thread that he did say that running was sometimes the better option.

I mean, we've already ran away from a much lesser fight.

"Palidan test." I'd be surprised if running is the way to pass.

He basically has said this is not a "run away from" fight. The fact that he's letting Gordon grab everyone else proves he wants us in this fight. I'm pretty sure it's critical to BeeDee's growth as a character, which we're going to need later.

Remember, we already know the priest's son is a vampire spawn. I'm guessing that means he's not "fully powered" yet? He also probably doesn't have attendants. I'm guessing he doesn't since he was trapped down there, and doesn't live there willingly.

Still, I think we need holy water and a stake. If we could lure him outside that'll probably work in our favor as well. (If it wasn't a church, BeeDee's "burn everything down" strategy would actually be really effective here.)

Ok, I "opened the book" and got my character all caught up.

I filled out my spells and shit to the best of my knowledge, but I think I did the spell page wrong. I would appreciate some input/assistance, there. And I don't want no shade thrown.

To my knowledge, at 2nd level I get 2 1st level spells, but Divine Smite takes up one of the slots, if I want that. Correct? But I probably filled the sheet out wrong. I don't know.

i believe you still get to pick 2 spells to have prepared. But if you chose to use a divine smite it takes one of your spell slots so then you would have one spell left to cast or use another divine smite. You would then have to take a long rest to get your two spell slots back.

Also, don't forget to pick your fighting style.

From the quick reference table on PHB 83:

At first level you get: Divine Sense, Lay on Hands
At second level you add: Divine Smite, Spellcasting, Fighting Style

Spell slots are like charges. At level 2 you have two charges.

You can choose a number of ready spells, calculated by:
(half your level) + (CHA modifier) 1+2=3 (?)

So choose 3 spells, and then you can cast them using your charges.

You are also able to expend charges with Divine Smite - which comes automatically at level 2.

You can also make holy water, by using a charge to perform a ritual using silver and water.

Shorts rests = 1 charge back, long rests = all of them

Fighting Styles is on page 84. Looks both important and powerful - you should definetly pick one.

I'll be on today and can clean up the spell sheet.

Game starts at 9 EST / 6 PST tonight. Zelda should be on time.

Even though we've all played before, things have changed. Everyone should be reading the manual. For instance, something I learned is that a 'versatile' weapon, such as a long sword or my quarterstaff can be used as a one handed weapon (1d8 or 1d6 damage respectively) or with two hands (1d10 or 1d8 respectively). So if you don't carry a shield (or put it on your back, not using it) you can do more damage with the long sword or quarterstaff. Also, if you are duel wielding, they have to be light weapons. Also, if a weapon is a 'finesse' weapon, you can use either your Dex or your Str for the modifier. So a Ranger with high Dex would use his Dex when fighting with a short-sword, where a fighter would use their Str. Lastly, ranged spells are at disadvantage at 5', just like a ranged weapon.

I came up with:

310 GOLD
2 RUBY
1 TOPAZ
2 GARNET GOBLETS
86 PLATINUM

That's after selling the wheels (15pl each) and the spear and shield (6pl).
I have two healing potions
